I can not format it
You will need to go to:
http://www.seagate.com/ca/en/support/downloads/
You will also need to read the rest of the label and find the name and model of the drive. Inability to format doesn't necessarily suggest a firmware issue, if this doesn't solve the issue, the drive may have failed. Let us know how you make out.
SOURCE: Hard disk not detected
The problem is that u have done partitions for 160 GB harddisk, so do all the partitions of 40 GB or less than that.
SOURCE: hard disk I/O error cannot formate harddisk shows no fixed disks how to solve
Please try to check with your cmos system if it was detected, if not means your harddrive was absolutely damage.
Please rate me solved!

SOURCE: how to install a new seagate hard drive?
I have one thats ide ultra, & my computers see it as a disc drive, like a cd drive when i put it in an external seagate case. but when i put it in as an internal it shows up in cmos w/ 320 g space, & no matter which pin config i use it doesnt show when the os is booted. I enabled LBA like it says on the drive, & tried all the other options in CMOS & havent got it to go yet, but it sounds like its running perfectly when it powers up. it'll go, but its actin crazy. ill post it when i get that bastard.

The problem was comes from USB cable malfuction, and I think it somehow affect the firmware detection. Gladly he can back up it again with another harddisk, just try to baiting it to make the firmware read. Now I'm still waiting for data recovery only.
