SOURCE: Braun electric shaver will not charge.

Your batteries are no longer capable of being recharged and need to be replaced.

If you are handy and can dissemble and solder, you can do this yourself, otherwise, you can send it off to a repair service that will do this for you.

If you wish to do this yourself, you'll have to take the shaver apart. There are two (2) small plastic caps on the bottom of the shaver that can be removed with a small pick or flatbladed screwdriver. Once those are out, you can unscrew the two screws that hold the shaver together and gently pry off the side panels.

This will expose the internal circuit board and the rechargable batteries that need to be unsolded. You can then reinstall NEW rechargable batteries and solder them onto the PCB (printed circuit board). You can also purchase a complete internal PCB with the batteries and everything you need, you just swap out the electronics for the new one, although this costs about $39, while the batteries alone are much less.

Put the shell together and reinstall the retaining screws and caps and you're done.

Here's a link to get the replacement batteries for your shaver. They also do the repair service, if you don't want to do it yourself.

SOURCE: How can i open 5414 and what battery is required?

To open the shaver, you first need to remove the two screw covers on the bottom of the shaver. They are plastic and on each side of the hole where the cord plugs into the shaver. Then remover the screws underneth. Remove the foil and cutters and then remove the two tiny screws that hold the swivel frame to the shaver. You can then seperate the front and back case of the shaver.
Once opened, you can see the circuit board and the battery attached.
For easier battery replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

My Braun electric shaver model 7680 has stopped functioning probably due to a dead battery ( I had it for years). A service center is asking in excess of 60 dollars to fix it. Battery and mother board...

If the shaver is completely dead and the charging lights no longer illuminate when plugged in, the circuit board will need changed. If they still illuminate when plugged in, you can just change the batteries.

You will find the batteries and also the circuit board with batteries at shaveroutlet.com. You can order which you require. See links below

I need to replace the batteries, but I do not know what part number to purchase. The batteries do not have any part number on them. Braun 6550 shaver

You will find the correct battery type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need two batteries.

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/shaver-replacement-battery-aa-nimh-p-108.html

I suggest that you read the installation tip on the item page as well.

Also, does the green charging indicator light still illuminate when you plug the shaver in to charge? If it no longer lights, don't waste your time with the batteries because your have waited too long to change them and the circuit board is now damaged. Unfortunately, circuit boards for model 6550 are no longer available from Braun

My former razor, Braun 5414 would take 110-240AC as well as 12 DC. Now have Contour 5790, and want to know if itcan also use12 volt DC.

According to the Braun manual for your 5414 Contour, the specs for charging are printed on the electric shaver cord plug. (it's REALLY small print, so I'd get a magnifying lens to look at it!)

There isn't anything in the manual about the multiple voltage for charging the shaver, so I'd have to defer to the Braun (Gillette/Proctor & Gamble) customer service folks to make absolutely certain of what can and can't be used as a charging voltage before trying.

Here's a link to your manual, in case you're missing yours.

You can ALSO reach the Braun Customer Service folks by calling them at 1-800-BRAUN 11 (1-800-272-8611)

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
