Hello Insert a lens cleanig disc into the device and play it at least three times. If the fault is due to any dirt or dust accumulated on lasser pickup lens, thei will rectify the problem. If this does not help you, the laser pickup lens unit of your device should be replaced with same type and number. The lens cleaning disc can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town, and won't cost more. OK.

If it dose not help you, the laser pickup unit of your RCA device should be replaced with same type and number. OK.
Check the jumper settings in the back of the drive, by the power cable. Make sure your cd/dvd drive is set to SLAVE, with your primary harddrive as MASTER. Check BIOS settings, specifically your boot order, choose which drive you want to load first (usually HD 0), save and exit. That's just the basics, though. either your set does not recognize the cd or your lens need to be replaced the age of your set has lot to play if it is old satrt shopping for a new set.anyhow have a tech look at your set.a look on the wire ribonthat leads from the body of the lens the pc board will not hurt probably it is damage.good luck.
i would say for some reason your dvd player is not compatible from now on with that brand of blank dvd!
get the firmware update from the brand website all you do is download the file burnit on a cd and put it in the dvd player should fix most and eventual problems
