Hey Robert Bouie, thank you for your post!

I understand that you are searching for the defrost timer inside of your Frigidaire imperial, FPCI-170T-7. I have researched the model number provided and I show that it is an older model. In order to provide you proper location of your defrost timer I would seek assistance from a professional. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

SOURCE: Defrost timer sticking

Your model doesn't have a defrost timer. Everything is controlled by the main motherboard in the back. The ONLY way to get an acurate diagnosis is to call GE FActory Service at 1-800-432-2737. There is proprietary software and the tech will be able to plug in a laptop to your refer to find out what is going on. No other companies have this or have access to this software. By the way that deforst thermostat you think you found isn't what you think it is. It looks like one but it only a saftey device. Trust me...!

I possible I would like to adjust the time of the defrost timer so it doesn't defrost in the middle of the the day

Lance Lamb... hello,

All things are possible in electronics...
(but not seeing/looking @ model/make info - who knows?)

A huge () assumption here would be that you ACTUALLY have
a "DEFROST TIMER"... (who knows? (only you)).

Would (in the unlikely event) that the "DEFROST TIMER" were true... a mere twist of the screwdriver can advance that time...
Your quest could be satisfied... (who knows? (only you)).

Since you are the keeper of the TOP SECET make+model...
Is it an 8, 12 or 24 hour timer??

Various timers are available...
CUSTOM mechanical retro-fits are possible if COSTS are of no consequence (who knows? (only you))..

In the more likely event your DEFROST CONTROL is a solid state
"POWER CONTROL BOARD" PCB (printed circuit board)...

With the make & model... custom circuit board engineering is available... but without the make & model number available...
(who knows? (only you)).

So the obvious question would be...

Are you ready to give it all up... Make & model??

(who knows? (only you))...

Seriously: bring money (lots-o-money)!!

I know of out of work DOMESTIC senior engineers...
Willing to do this ... all day long!

What else you got...?

The bottom part of the refrigerator is not cooling, freezer is ok

Are you sure about the model number being MTF2153GES? Usally when the fresh food section warms up it is an indication that there is a problem with the defrost system. If your model number is correct MTF2153GES then the refrigerator has a defrost timer behind the controls inside the fresh food section. I need to see if the defrost timer is stuck and causing the refrigerator to miss defrost. The defrost timer is=> 68233-3 Defrost Timer Let me know about the model number so I can continue to help solve this problem. . I am here should you need me, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

Turn the timer slowly clockwise until the compressor and fans stop. Leave the timer alone in that position that turned the compressor and fans off for up to 35 minutes. In the first few minutes after the timer turned fans and compressor off you should be getting defrost. If timer comes on by itself and you have defrost results the timer and defrost heater are good. If the timer does not turn the refrigerator back on but the defrost took place then replace the timer. Every different refrigerator or freezer has a different amount of time on for cooling and time off for defrost so it is important to know what the model number is to answer the part number and time off/on ratio. What is the model number of the refrigerator that the timer is on? Sea Breeze
