For most Microlife blood pressure monitors, the error 3 indicates that the unit cannot reach the proper pressure in the cuff to start the test. If replacing the batteries doesn't work, check that the cuff is properly plugged into the socket on the monitor. Next you may need to replace the cuff. There may be a leak in the cuff or the hose between the cuff and the socket. Microlife sells replacement blood pressure cuffs here: https://www.microlife.com/consumer-products/blood-pressure/cuffs-and-supplies . These cuffs fit all of their devices except for the wrist versions.
An E1 error can mean a number of things depending on the brand of your monitor and the way that you are trying to take your blood pressure. The general reason for E1 errors is to announce for whatever reason that the machine could not get a blood pressure reading.
Some common causes:
You did not let all of the air out of the blood pressure cuff before trying to take your blood pressure. Make sure that there is no air in the cuff by squeezing it or rolling it, prior to use to let out excess air.
Your blood pressure cannot be taken at this time. Sometimes this occurs if you are very nervous, overly excited, or have a fast heart rate. You can try sitting down and relaxing prior to taking your blood pressure.
You are using the wrong size cuff. If you are taking blood pressure on a small child, someone with a tiny arm, or someone with a large arm, the blood pressure cuff might not get an accurate reading. Many blood pressure monitor manufacturer's offer blood pressure cuffs ranging in size from small to extra large, and you should use the cuff that is most appropriate for the size of your arm.
You didn't line up the blood pressure cuff correctly on your arm. You can't just slap the cuff on your arm and expect it to work, it has to be lined up properly. Many companies put an arrow on the cuff to give you an idea with positioning.
You need to try a different spot on your arm. Occasionally some people cannot give a blood pressure reading on their upper arm for a variety of reasons, and you should try getting a reading on your lower arm.
If you are still having trouble with your blood pressure cuff, take your monitor with you to your next doctors appointment so that your doctor can show you how to use the monitor correctly.

According to the Owners Manual, the EE Message shown on the display or the blood pressure value is displayed when an excessively low (or high) reading is detected OR as a result of one of the following:
1. Cuff has been placed incorrectly. Solution: Wrap cuff properly so that it's positioned correct.
2. Did you talk or move during measurement? Solution: Measure again. Keep wrist steady at heart level during measurement.
3. Shaking or moving of the wrist with the cuff on. Solution: Same as # 2.
NOTE: Be sure the cuff is placed exactly as pictured on the face of the box, 1/2" above the heel of the hand.
