You may be able to "boost" the volume by setting it to a different equalizer setting...... Im unsure if your tv has it though i imagine it would.
EG: Rock, Vocal, Music etc

This is a design problem, unfortunately unrepairable.

if connected to a cable box is that vol up .
and is the vol up on the tv at the same time, 2 remotes 2 volumes
the other is that you may have changed the settings in the menu for surround / 3d or such and each effects max sound .

The control board is defective. Is in warranty so call Sharp to have it fixed.
