Check your num lock key status press it on and off if hum lock led is on and off when u pressing then your cpu working fine. so check connectiopn of vga cable cpu to monitor.
Also some times display screeen resolution issue so when u power up press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode then you can chang escreen resolution to 1024*768.
but if num lock key is not on and offf then open the cabinet of cpu then find cmos cell on mother bord and pull it for 14 minutes then check .

Hello
Try reseating the video card in the pci slot, remove completly then reinstall.

Also check your monitor video cable for being tight.

It does not start, gives one long beep (about 2-3 seconds) silence and beep again

Switching DDR cards solved the problem. I was getting long beeps every 2 seconds. No short beeps. Just one long beep every 2 seconds. Thanks Josh Whitehead.

T6520 emachine. when i turn it on the fans start, the keyboard lights flash, the monitor led turns green (getting a signal) and about the time i'd expect to see some display image and/or hear the mobo spkr...

Based on your previous troubleshooting, with both built-in video and alternate video card, I'd guess you have a bad mobo. Anything else that was wrong with it (RAM, CPU, etc) and you'd get beep codes.

Sounds like it's time for a replacement board. If the eMachine is out of warranty, it might make more sense just to go ahead and upgrade now, as they are so inexpensive. If you are capable of replacing the board yourself, that would be the cheaper alternative.

Hope this helps - remember to rate (and great troubleshooting, btw!)
