I would suggest searching in thrift shops, and older song machine repair shops you might be able to locate a carrying case there. If not any modern caring case will work.

Be sure TOP control shows zig-zag. Flip top right bar from red to black or black to red on side of machine facing you. You can then change the widths by changing the numbers on that same circle control.

SOURCE: zig zag stitches are not holding

When ever a machine is jamming up the bobbin thread, it is a result of your top tension. It is either set to low (under 4), or the thread has come out of the take-up lever. Check your threading, fromt he spool pin, down to 2 and up to 3. Three is the take up lever. From the take-up lever down to 4. Set the thread behind the thread guide and thread the needle form front to back. Low quailtu thread 9dual duty or all purpose) can also create this problem.

thanks,

Bonnie

SOURCE: bobbin wont catch

Try flipping the bobbin. The thread must come off in a certain direction to work properly.

SOURCE: can't tighten clutch on Kenmore zig zag sewing machine.

The clutch has fallen off the shaft. Remove the very small screw in the clutch release screw to remove the clutch release. Place the clutch(round thing with ears on it) back on the shaft with the center ears pointing towards the outside. Put the clutch release screw back on. Tighten it to make sure it works
properly. Put the small screw back in the clutch release screw and test it again. If it will not tighten or release properly, remove the clutch ,rotate it180 degrees and try it again. This should solve your problem.

SOURCE: Have a Sears-Kenmore Sewing machine

Machine will not sew forward. It will sew backward on zig zag stitch. Could this problem be the reverse switch spring broken?

Please how do I work a zig zag pattern on my manual operated singer sewing machine

Hello, Annelien -

Unless your manually operated sewing machine has switches to realign your sewing machine needle to make zig zag stitching, as is demonstrated in this YouTube video (starting at around 6:30 minutes in the video):
https://www.fearlessmakers.com/manual-sewing-machine-works/
you cannot. Note: The machine in the video is a Necchi brand sewing machine.

Without knowing the model number of your manually operated Singer sewing machine, I cannot try to find operating instructions for it to determine if your machine has zig zag stitching potential.

Best wishes.

When i use the zig zag stich, sometimes the stich falls and does not zig zag

try a new needle--one for the fabric being sewed

could be a problem with the cam that does the zig zag, you might need to have the machine checked

if your sewing with light weight fabric also try using stablizer

Machine is 30+ yrs old and tension settings .. There are 3.. Are all screwed up so stiches are not even, tight or inform...can someone help me know the normal setting and how to adjust for zigzag...

You haven't mentioned a brand or model number. Go to this YouTube page for general repairs and setting up zig zag.

But in any event, go to the manufacturer's website and go to the support page. Download the user manual, if they still have them, for your model. Settings should be located within manual.

I have a Kenmore 385 model and I can not make it zig zag????

even an oldie is still a goodie,, when a sewing machine has not
been used for a long time the grease and oil can become yecky
and it sounds like the machine needs to be serviced with new grease
and oil and see if that help the machine, also having the zig zag
gear or cam checked would be a good idea.

Trouble sewing lycra fabric using a zig zag stitch

You have the machine set for blind hem stitching. Change the stitch selector to stretch stitch, which is a single, in line stitching zig zag stitch.
