I'm using dell laptop from a year. All of a sudden a vertical yellow line appeared on the middle of the screen.So could you tell me how can i fix it Inspiron 5437 W560707TH-5437

You can try to update your video driver from dell at "support.dell.com".
You will need to enter the service tag number of your laptop and follow the instructions to download the driver.

This is non fixable problem
change the screen.

Does it appear THE MOMENT you turn the unit on?

If it does, then you will have to run the monitor's self-test function by turning it on with the data cable (the one that does NOT connect to the power outlet) DISCONNECTED from the computer.

If the line still appears, then the monitor is faulty & cannot be "repaired". Usually, the entire LCD module is replaced.

If the line does not appear in the self-test mode, then check if it's connected to an ON-BOARD display adapter (typically found in the back of the machine, towards the middle area, towards where the ethernet cable and USB devices plug in) or a EXPANSION CARD (normally located towards the BOTTOM part in the back of the machine).



If it plugs in to the on-board slot, then the motherboard may be faulty. If it plugs in to an expansion card, then it's the card that may need to be replaced.

Of course, these are merely possibilities, but the most likely failing component here is the monitor itself. Busted display adapters very rarely, if at all, manifest these horizontal or vertical lines and STILL boot up. Regardless if it's on-board or expansion card, a failing display adapter would normally have either no display at all, or it would just simply stop booting up (screen remains dark: no lines).

It's probably a screen problem! :( If I were you I'd get a new laptop! :( DO NOT GET THE SCREEN REPAIRED! :( :)

The color red and especially red colored lines or a pinkish hue are indicative of an impending screen failure. The only other possibility is that the data cable on the left backside of the lcd panel may be loose at the socket or on the motherboard. 9 times out of 10 though, it is the lcd panel that it failing.

Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Inspiron 9300 and see if the vertical line is also present on the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor also displays the vertical line, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop.
Not sure if the Compaq Presario has an external monitor plug, but if it does the above procedure can be applied to that one as well.

the lcd (liquid crystal display) is damaged at this time, nor the inverter, that is of course inside of your pc, im afraid you need to send this to a repair shop

Hello pse try to connect an ordinary screen to your computer and see if you have the same problem then...use both screens at the same time ...and see if your lcd is the same or not...please tell me how it went...good luck...be hearing from you...Ron
