Scanner carriage problem
• The home position is not correct when the power is turned on or copying the document placed on the contact glass.

Causes

Poor contact of the connector terminals. Defective scanner home position switch. Defective engine PCB. Defective scanner motor.

perhaps its a faulty lead, I had one a few months ago, changed the lead and solved the problem.

if its not solve your problem check exposure lamp harness connections; adjust the position of contact glassshading plate or clean/replace the scanner home position sensor;replace the exposure lamp or inverter pcb if needed; replace scanner board or engine board

3. poor contact on connector terminals
4. defective scanner board or engine board

"E2" is "Trouble with the optical system (front)."

That doesn't solve your problem, but at least it narrow downs the focus of your problem.

this could be down the the scanner unit its self, Does the scanner move and light up - if yes could be logic board, if not the scanner unit is prob the fault. This would need a engineer to come and repair. depending where you live i have a few contacts in the UK that would solve this prob.
