I can't even tell if my G5417 has a receiver for the new remote

Since I don't have an instruction manual and have no idea what to look for, I can't tell if there's a receiver or how to reset the motor to the new code.

I have a Chamberlain Liftmaster 2000 series garage door opener, model G5417. (Sorry, I thought I was posting to an existing thread). The Chamberlain site doesn't even acknowledge this model. I purchased a universal remote to get it to open, but can't find any receiver on the motor or frame (and don't know what I'm looking for in the first place). I can't open or close the door from outside, but the indoor button works fine.

I had the same problem,, with 2 non working remotes,,, and I was ABLE TO FIX IT! I inherited this system 30 yrs ago, the previous owner who built the garage 30 yrs earlier... So the system Liftmaster #G5417 must be about 60 yrs old. The remotes stopped working 3 to 4 years ago, about the time the 2 lifter bulbs burnt out. That is a BIG HINT. Called Wiscgaragedoor, and they put me in contact with a local installer, Tom, he said to check the light bulbs, as LEDs can interfere with remote signal. So I went ahead and put 2 new incandescent 40 watt bulbs. I had already checked the remote batteries (good) and board for burnt out parts. (My hardwired button start has always worked) Everything is working excellent. So check for burnt out bulbs on unit and do not use LEDs. Incandescent only.

I got the same problem with Liftmaster G5417. It has no learn button but dip switches. According to Chamberlin, the model is too old with different frequency and cannot be programmed. My remote control that came with it and used to work now stop working. It has only one red reset button. Please let me know if any universal remote control will work otherwise I have no choice but change the whole system. SSK786

Can you explain what it is you are trying to do and who makes the opener?

You won't find a receiver. It is part of the logic board. If you bought a remote that will work with the opener you can do this and it should work. Find the smart/learn button just to the left of all those white wires. Press and hold the button on your remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Should do it for you.

I have a KitchenAid stand mixer model KT2651X. It recently ground down the worm gear follower, which I purchased a new one along with a new worm gear because this is not the first time it ground down that...

It is not a good idea to modify anything in the unit to make part(s)
designed for another model fit. The KT and KP models have different
part numbers for the motor. I still don't understand why do you have to
change motor in the first place, just because the Worm Gear Follower
has to be replaced. Something is telling me, you have just purchased
the wrong part (Follower). The KT2651x is similar to the KP26xxx
latest models and the Worm Gear does not come with the Follower.
(i.e. they are 2 different distinct parts)

This should resolve your propblem... taken from the Denon USA FAQ...

You’ll rarely need to "initialize the microprocessor" under normal operating conditions. In a few cases, the microprocessor will temporarily freeze or "lock up" just as your home computer does. When this happens, just follow the guidelines in the back of your owner’s manual to "unlock" the microprocessor and restore normal operation. (This is directly comparable to rebooting your computer. It’s an electronic wake up call to your unit’s temporarily paralyzed microprocessor "brain.")
If you experience some unusual behavior -- a channel that’s suddenly silent, "forgotten" level adjustments, some eccentricities in your unit etc. -- you may need to reset the microprocessor. Of course, you should check all connections carefully first. But if you’ve eliminated these items as a source of potential problems, you may need to go through the initialization process.)
Initialization is easy. Please refer to your owners manual for instruction on reseting the microprocessor as each unit may have its own individual protocal for reset.
What causes these problems? Several things can -- a jolt of static electricity, a current surge through an antenna input, etc. But don’t worry, the microprocessor is well shielded from any permanent effects.
When you do initialize the microprocessor, remember that this erases any setup instructions you may have previously programmed into the unit. However, the on-screen menu will quickly get you through a new setup. And, if you write down your preferred settings BEFORE you reset your unit’s microprocessor, you’ll have an even easier job!
If in the event you do intialize microprocessor reset please refer to your owners manual for instructions on setup..

Facing the GPS system, remove the front cover with your nail or something sharp and under it you will find a reset button. If needed, refer to page 30 in this manual (different model but same principle, see website below) for pictures:
