Adjusted mag mount antenna w/a swr meter. When checked it w/the meter on the '06 uniden pc78 elite, ch 40 was a lot higher. Which is correct ?

The coax jumpers between the meter and the radio can change the SWR a little bit. It is very unlikely the the antenna can be that low on 1 and 40. Set it for the lowest on 20 via the radio and as long as you are under a 2 on 1 and 40 then it should be OK.

What adapter do i need to connect a uniden bearcat pc78 elite inside my home

Hi Ray,

This is a mobile CB radio. According to the manual, it requires 13.8VDC @ 2.2Amps. You will need to provide an AC (house or alternating current) to DC (direct current) power supply capable of providing 13.8V at 2.2 Amps. This means the supply would be working at 100%, so obtaining a supply that would provide 4, 5 or more amps would be much less stressful on it and significantly reduces the chances of a 60 cycle hum present in the receive and transmit audio.

A representation of 13.8VDC @ 4A power supplies can be found here for $40 and up. Of course, you can go to a local electronics store and find them too. Check eBay for these, too - here.

You should be looking for a power supply that will provide 12 - 13.8 volts DC, and provide 3, 4 or more amps. The amp capacity is what will change the price - the more amps the higher the cost. You may see small "switching" power supplies - they are smaller, lighter & cheaper than traditional linear or transformer based types - so if that is the type you want to get you might want to get one that is a little bigger (5 or 6 amps) than the transformer type to get the same performance.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Looking for a place to download the schematics for the pc78 elite

http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/uniden/pc_77/graphics/uniden_pc77_sch.gif
Not familiar with the Elite series i believe it is the PC78 repackaged with orange lights.
Either way the cobra 29 and Uniden PC78s are roughly 90% the same radios Until you get to the Chrome cobra and LX and 50th anniversary the later being the same except the mic and some stickers oh and the price.

Radio Shack Catalog # 21-1926 FRS radio manual needed. Else tell me if I can change channels 1 - 7 to LO power out. Suspect they are hard coded for HI power out.

Hello,
In short channels 1-7 and channels 15-22 are GMRS channels are not supposed to be operated by anyone that does not have a GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) license issued by the FCC. They automatically run on high power. Channels 8-14 are FRS (Family radio Service) and can be used by anyone and are set to run on Low Power. The power is not adjustable with this radio. So now for the manual. Uniden made this radio for Radio Shack. So this manual is for the same radio only with the actual Uniden name. Same exact physical radio same exact manual. http://www.uniden.com/pdf/GMR1038-2om.pdf

How do you adjust volume on base ringer on uniden dxa15588-2

Setting the Main Base Ringer Volume
The main base has three ringer volume settings: high, low, and off. You can change
the ringer volume while in standby mode or while an incoming call is ringing.
1) Press the ringer key.
You hear the ringer at the current volume level
([ ] High, [ ] Low, [ ] off) (if you set the
main base ringer volume to off, “Ringer off” is
announced) and it is displayed on the main base.
2) Press the ringer key repeatedly until the desired ringer
option appears.
3) The system displays the new ringer volume.

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me" again.

The initial posting would still hold true, best would be:
  • remove TR18;
  • replace 2SC2069 with 2SC1969; and
  • adjust L12, 13 & 14.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
