Question about Panasonic PV-GS300 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Playback has horiontal blue lines through images

I haev been downloading my minidvs to the computer with no problems until I started to get horizontal blue lines through the image - both on the screen of the camera and on my downloaded file on the computer. Unless these lines are being created as I do it, the lines were not on the tape - I checked ones I had done, and the lines are now there.

I am getting blue stripes - much like a Zebra skin, except in blue, running across the recording when I playback (see attached photo).

I then put-in a different tape that did not have this problem in another camcorder but shows the same stripes in this camcorder - so I am thinking that it must be the problem with this GS-300 camcorder?

There is also NO AUDIO being recorded by this camcorder ... help! Anyone?

My Panasonic PV GS200 has the same issue. I took it in and had it cleaned, but the problem is still there. I hope someone can come up with a fix soon.

I am seeing the same thing exactly as the original posters picture shows.

It is on only one tape out of 4 but it is my daughters graduation - UGH !.

I suspect it may be the tape since it is only on one tape that I am playing back...

I was hoping to find an answer online but this is the only place I have even seen this problem mentioned.

If I figure anything out I will post here first.

I was in playback mode and started seeing the horizontal bars in the middle of watching a video. It now has them no matter what tape I put in.

exactly the same problem the lines are on every single tape even on a brand new one so i dont see how cleaning the tape head will make a difference. this is really annoying now because i cant put clips onto the computer without these lines

You need to throw away the camera. this solution will save you heartache and time. OR you could spend 300$ on getting it fixed. ITS CALLED a HEADCLEAN. only panasonic will clean the heads but that'll be pricey. i would just invest in a worthy camcorder like the dvx!

I have a Canon ZR90A and started noticing horizontal gray lines displaying across the screen when it plays back. What is causing this?

The most common cause of horizontal lines during playback is dirty heads/tape path. If you have a head cleaner tape, try playing it for about 5 to 10 seconds and then try your tape again. Repeat as necessary. Try not to run the head cleaner for long periods of time because you may wear down your heads quicker (cleaning cassette is somewhat abrasive). If you do not own a head cleaning tape, I highly recommend purchasing one. Sony (in my opinion) makes the best miniDV head cleaning cassette. We use this brand in our repair shop and they last for years. I have posted a link to the particular tape I am speaking of. Your local camera/camcorder shop may have these for sale.

If the menus and icons look normal, but images are distorted or discolored, you may have an image sensor (CCD) problem. See Canon's service notice regarding this issue here. Canon will repair your camera at no cost regardless of warranty. Contact them at your regional Canon service agency.

Wont record anything to MiniDV tape and A/D randomly working

Hello,

Sorry about delayed reply as I just saw it.

Its known problem of ccd imager in Canon ZR85 camcorder and ccd imager needs to be replaced.

Canon will repair your camcorder free of cost as per announced scheme for ccd imager issue.

Click Canon CCD Advisory for details, how to get free repair.

Regarding can't see picture or time code in playback, it is problem of dirty / clogged video heads. Use good quality video head cleaning cassette to clean heads and hope camera will show playback picture.

Good luck.

JVC Camcorder

Put an used casette inside; hit PLAY and then FFWD until you start seeing images. Eventually you will start seeing some with lines and then the black lines will get smaller and smaller until they turn into grainy lines. Stop and PLAY again and they will faint. RWD and PLAY back as you wish and it should be find. I think this is because of tiny dirt particles that your cassette will dust off for you.

Horizontal lines on image

Either screen or ccd sensor faulty. T establish which see if you can can normal playback : if the immage looks ok in playback mode it is the CCD sensor. Either way camera has to go to your agent or qualified repairer.

DVD recorder -- displays blue horizontal lines only

Most DVD players today are very inexpensive.
If your system is working well otherwise, I suggest purchasing a new DVD player. Try that solution. If for any reason it does not work then another problem may exist which may include an issue with your TV!
