Usually just one of the linking rods that got unhooked, or a doorlock motor that is now malfunctionning. You need to take apart the plastics and covers on the inside of the tailgate to have a clear view of the mechanism and pinpoint the rod that's not working, or pinpoint the motor for the doorlock to test it out. Be warned though, in some cases the tailgate needs to be opened to take the covers off. If you feel like they won't come off at all and don't see any screws left to take out, don't pry too much so you don't break it, and take it to the dealer to get them to open it up. It may cost a bit more, but at least if they break it while taking it off, they're gonna pay to replace it and they will also fix it.
Glad to hear it then! And yes you did save a bunch. A mechanic at the dealership would've taken about 1h or more to get the job done and they usually charge around 50$ to 60$ an hour. I wish i could've helped more but i'm used to old school systems with linkage rods and such, and also i'm from canada so we don't have too many renaults here, so i couldn't really even know that the tailgate was completely electronically controled.

found the solution 4 leads in plastic connector going to the little motor one connector looked a little green they are only push in's took them out one by one cleaned them replaced them. they felt a little loose so pinched each one up a little untill they felt tight, hey presto the mechanism worked. Saved myself a few quid I recon sorting it out myself.
