Try clearing the error in service mode:
1. Function key, 2 and 8 together, Function key
2. Copier >> Functions >> Clear >> ERR
3. Leave the service mode and restart the printer
If this does not solve the problem, I highly recommed to you to call your local technician from Canon.
You may have IR interference at night because of other items you turn on at night. Try leaving everything off except your TV and receive, try your remote to make sure it functions. Then turn 1 item on at a time, try the remote to see if it works or stops working. Once it stops working, the last item you turned on is causing the interference. It is then a matter of relocating that item so it won't continue to interfere with the remote functions. I hope this helps.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to say try to find someone in the field to assist with this type of equipment. Equipment like that isn't a simple desktop system typically. I highly doubt people in this general computer purpose would be able to help install let alone troubleshoot the problems your likely to run into.
I am really sorry i'm unable to help but I think it's best to leave this time of equipment to professionals in the specific field itself.
The machine's hard drive has died. you will need to get a Canon technician out to replace it for you and to re-install the machine's system software. In addition to this you will also need to reconfigure some of the machines settings such as the address book, as this is usually lost when the hard drive is formatted or replaced.
