SOURCE: Pioneer CDJ-800 MK2 Disk Reading issue

You might have damage to the reader, and I can only suggest replacing the CD Traverse/Transport assembly.

How do you calibrate the CDJ-800 after replacing the pick-up assembly?

You shouldn't have to, the traverse/pick-up assembly is not like older models where calibration is required. Just make sure you remove the solder bridge before trying to use the unit. This solder bridge is located on the new assembly's PCB.

If you have the CDJ800, then the following will show you:

CDJ800 PICK UP ASSEMBLY SOLDER BRIDGE

If you have the CDJ800MK2, then you'll have to reference the service manual.

Good luck!

CDJ 800 Bad Laser

Yes, sounds like you have a bad traverse assembly (laser). You can replace it yourself, however, I wouldn't suggest it, as you need to calibrate the assembly after the installation, and remove a solder bridge (which keeps the unit safe during transport). It is a little complicated, if you don't have experiencing doing this type of work. Taking it to a service center would be your best option.
