My garmin 1100 wont turn on - nuvi Garmin GPS

Install Garmin Express from Garmin. Plug your GPS into your computer. Your GPS should turn on into usb mode and Garmin Express should identify it and show you any updates available. If the GPS does not turn on when you plug it into your PC, then contact Garmin for warranty work.

Follow the 2 steps of instructions on the page to update the firmware.

if you are still getting sound when you press on the screen then the voice might have just been turned off, turn the unit on and hit tools>settings>language and the voice should say american english jack or jill

There is volume on your garmin nuvi 1100. To check your volume, touch main menu, touch volume, Touch the arrow pointing left() to adjust the volume. Be sure that it is not on mute, by touching the box next to the volume, that is the mute button.

If the volume icon does not work, then it means there is a problem with the speaker that is at the back of the unit.

Base from the description of your problem it seems that your unit has a bad lcd screen that needs a replacement but before going to that replacement we can try first doing a reset on it.

Do these steps.
Turn on the Garmin Nuvi 1100.
Press and hold down the "Power" button.
Release the button when the main menu is displayed. The unit is now ready to be used.

Then after doing that and still the same the unit has a hardware issue better send it for repair or take it to service center near you.

You can restore the Nuvi 205 system software to its factory condition by running Garmin's WebUpdater service. You may also want to try a hard reset of your Nuvi.
