What does it mean when the standby light flashes four times on a Sony TV Model # KV-24FV12 ?
We plugged the TV in and turned it on with the power button on the set. The set turned on and appeared to operate normally. We turned it off and tried to turn it on using the remote control. No success. The TV clicks repeatedly. I noticed a little while later that the standby light was flashing in repeated series of four blinks. Attempting to reset the power and reset the TV back to factory settings has made no difference. Sometimes there is a momentary flash of light when the power button is depressed but nothing more. Cannot access the menu either. Thanks for any help.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here.It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Hi, The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service. If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue. If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset: Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television. If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.
error code 4 is vertical deflecton failure . replace the vertical deflection ic. and the electrolytic capacitors in the vertical circuit. Or if you are lucky just resolder the vetical IC and resolder th horizontal section too.
Please check batteries in remote that seems not working. Sony TV would either turns On or standby light will blinks if TV gets any internal problem. You question shows standby light stays On that means TV does not receive power on command from remote. If standby light is blinking in sequence, let me know how many times it is blinking and also intimate exact model number of TV to find out possible solution. Thanks.
My Sony trinitron has the stero lite on steady and standby lite flashes four times then pauses and repeats. Can you tell me the circuit/condition causing the set to not turn on.
The blinking red light at the the front of the television is the "Diagnostic STANDBY/TIMER LED".
This little red light will blink 2, 4, or 5 times and then stay off for three-seconds. And blink again for 2, 4, or 5 times. This cycle repeats. The most common diagnostic code is the 4-blink code.
When the red LED blinks 4-times, it means one of two possible causes:
1) +13V is not supplied on the A-board. Or, 2) IC502 is faulty.
It is best to take this television set to a repair facility and ask that the +13V power supply be repaired.
The copper tracks and integrated circuit pads are very thin and delicate on the KV-24FV12 circuit board, and will easily lift off of the circuit board, if the incorrect desoldering tool is used. Unless one has a good quality PACE vacuum desoldering unit, one should not attempt to repair the television.
I own a Sony T.V. model #KV36HS510, Serial # 9024184,Event# E36002407 and it"s aTrinitron brand name. Like the problems before no picture or sound, stand by light on front of unit flashes. When trying to turn it back on you can hear the power click, like it wants to turn on, but does not.
