Rtl8168/8111 pci-e lan failing

I built a new computer from scratch ordering all of the parts seperately. I know it is all compadible because the computer works fine, with exception to connecting to the internet. I have a Realtek rtl8168/8111 pci-e Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIC 6.0) and this message pops up ''This device cannot start. (Code 10)''

I have installing drivers, uninistalled/reinstalled this device and more. I would appreciate the help if anyone can elaborate on the issue.

ps: I'm running vista 64 bit, ultimate

Hi

i think the issue is more to HW than SW
just a thought but, place the ethernet card in the slot properly but donot put in the screw to attach it to the cabinet and check to see if the card is getting detected

also try checking if te card works on some other machine with either XP or some other

just a hunch though

cheers
pls rate if it was any help

Computer ethernet port

Try different cable, modem, router, but seriously if its the actual lan connector on the motherboard that is bad, buy a new motherboard.

Check the warranty on the PC.

You can always but a lan card, see what you have for PCI slots on your motherboard and buy a card from Newegg.

It is not worth fixing an onboard lan.(ethernet) one that's built onto the board.

Look at these.

M3N78-VM LAN PORT& PCI PROBLEM

1) How do you know that PCI slot is not working? Tried another PCI expansion card in it? Perhaps another LAN adapter card?
(Ethernet Card)

A LAN adapter card will go bad before a PCI slot will.

2) PCI expansion slot is bad? No other PCI slot to use?
Then here is a suggestion,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3504463&csid=_61

Plug it into any available USB port on the computer.
It is a GigaByte Ethernet solution, also. (10/100/1000)

How to repair lan if it is keep blinking without any lan wire

If it is onboard lan you would need to send the entire motherboard for LAN repair which is an expensive process.however if it is a LAN card that you have connected seperately in PCI slot, then replacing the same is a much cheaper, easier and better option.

hi! I think u need to install drivers in your PCI internet/LAN Card or built-in LAN
Please check the brand of Motherboard if it is built-in or the PCI Card Brand. and browse it in the net with another PC with the NET connection, to the manufacturer websites. and search it with corresponding model of the motherboard or the PCI Card. and download the Driver's and save to USB and paste it to ur PC and install it.
if this tips is helpful. please rate it. thank you.

Run a detection program. PC Wizard is in my opinion the best and it will provide you with a lot of extra data.

In built lan in pci bus is not working. Which lan card i can insert in pci slot?

Any brand that is made to fit in in a PCI slot. Try Best buy or Tigerdirect.com. Also, go into your bios settings when computer 1st starts and shut off the built in lan on your motherboard (see computer manual or online support for your brand)

Home networking.

do you have a pci network adapter intalled with the proper drivers ? did you plug in ethernet cable directly into current pci lan card it will be located on lower part of back of computer? this will eliminate the problems with the router just to see if pci lancard is working or not . if the lan card is working unplug cable and plug in router and then try with router plugged in u might need to reset the router in order for it to work with lan card . if ur using and onboard lan eg attached to the motherboard then you must go into computer bios and enable onboard lan and then the ethernet cable should work with no problem good luck i hope this helps you get up and going getback to me if there are future problems.

Out of 4 networked computers, 1 computer has stopped networking, and the light on the Linksys for computer #3 confirms this because it's light is out. How do we fix this?

It could be one of two issues. The cable has gone bad. Replace the cable. Or, the LAN port on the computer has gone bad. Replace the LAN port. If it's a built in LAN port, just add a PCI one; they can be purchased for under $10.
