You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

My Panasonic DMC-LZ3 camera appears to have locked up

Make sure the scene mode dial is correctly "clicked" into a choice. You could also try this...remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

hey even you dont have a disk, you can put picture to your computer, all you have to do is put the usb cable then open your camera, wait for the autorun, or if the autorun dont work, go to my computer then choose scanners and camera, or if you cant find it on the "my computer" go to start then control panel then look for it there, after that it will guide you step by step, all you have to do is click the picts that you want to uplode to your computer.

Lz3

If you look at page number 80 in your manual it will tell you how to hook up camera to view pictures under the chapter connecting to a PC, however your computer needs some type of software to read the pictures. On your CD that came with your camera was a version called Lumix simple viewer however you can use any type of photo software. As for the driver I could not find anything for the LZ-3 however for the LZ-2 using windows XP a driver is not required and I suspect this is the case for yours as well.

Panasonic DMC-LZ3 upgrade

Unlike some of Panasonic's other models in the DMC category, the LZ3 does not include a microphone (the little "dimple" on the top is where it would be).

In other words, even if the software could be upgraded the hardware does not support audio recording.
