daniel, first off, I need a complete model number for the radio info. Midland only made about 40-50 different models over the years. The header calls for a 75-822 and you are asking for a ** 833. The beginning should be a 13 or 75,76,77,78. Let me know the # and i'll be able to get you the proper pinout.
Thanks,,, Mechanic

SOURCE: converting a different brand of mic for a midland CB

This should be a typical Midland pinout. If you are using a generic 4 pin mic that is wired to cobra/Uniden, all you have to do is switch pin 1 & 2, then 3 & 4.

Not all mics are color coded the same with their wires.

If the radio is working don't worry about the meter unless you absolutely want it. These little meters are not very accurate or reliable. Get an external SWR meter to check the antenna.

Hi chris here im using a gx300 with a 100w linear amp on the 27mhz band i can hear people but still cant seem to get out im using a staion master antenna please help tried everything

Yikes, using a linear on CB is illegal! You could get into real trouble doing that. The radio \'barefoot\' with that antenna should work very well, and will be legal. If you hear stations, but cannot contact them, there is a good possibility that the linear is not working. Or, the radio may not be putting out power. Do you have access to a watt meter or SWR meter? Find someone who has these instruments, and they can help you out. Best of luck to you!

Does a midland cb 40 ch have a range for distance?

  • Hi, I can help.

  • In general a CB goes roughly 1 mile per watt of power. A Midland CB out of the box will get you about 5 miles. After a Peak and Tune, a Midland CB can get out around 25 miles. If you put an SWR/Watt meter inline you can tell how much your rig is putting out.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I just got my new midland CB and installed it on sunday. i can hear people however everytime i try to talk no one responds. The indicator light goes on and the rf meter goes up however i am not getting...

check the SWR. the antenna may not be tuned. Also, you may be hearing skip. If so, they are thousands of miles away, and you don't have enough power to talk to them.

Find some one close to test it.

Help me!!!

SWR OK? Is it throwing a dead-key carrier? No carrier? Midlands many times will show what looks like a processed modulation signal but is not going out your finals on the radio, and out the antenna. Suggest an external in-line meter to see if there really is a transmitted signal. If there is a signal, look for a broken/bad wire at the mics plug-in end. If no signal on the add-on meter, suspect an audio chip or final that's defective. All three are fixable at a GOOD CB Shop.

"squeak" when transmitting

Make sure you have a good ground for the radio and antenna. How long is the antenna coax if a little to long and you have extra what did you do with it coil it if so uncoil it and lay it out try it. If no luck I would shorten the coax and recheck your SWR.
