Kenwood kdc-mp142 why does it shut down when volume is turned up it powers on and shuts down until volume is turned down

Have you checked your speaker wiring as it could be you have some wires crossed ie: negative feeding the positive side causing the shut down & check the Ohms if at high volume you are trying to drag to many Ohms it will also cause the built in amp to shut down to protect the system dont keep incresing the volume as the strain will do damage

does it keep cutting in and out?
if so i think you have your polarities crossed
make sure you have negative to negative positive to positive

Try to connect separates speakers( not the installed in the car) If your car stereo dont turn ON... then there is a short circuit in the audio power circuits.

My Kenwood kdc-mp142 doesn't turn on. The stereo gets power because the cd comes out and can go in but the face itself won't turn on. None of the buttons illuminate. What might be the problem.
make sure you are getting power to the red wire.

My kdc mp142 is saying protect and not allowing me 2 turn it on
Your unit is seeing a speaker that is shorted. Disconnect them one by one until the protect goes away then check the wire and speaker for a short.

Cant turnoff the demo mode in my Kenwood KDC-MP142 stereo
get in to "menu" (hold magnifying glass), scroll to "demo mode" (am or fm button), push volume knob in and hold for about three seconds. Should work, that's how I did it.

Kenwood new sterio shuts off when turning up volume
You may have a short in a speaker. Check to see that the wire terminals on the speaker itself aren't touching any metal. Even 1 terminal touching metal will cause issues. Hope this helps.
