The resistance motor may well be the problem. It may also be the flywheel.

SOURCE: why does the resistance on my elliptical randomly go to OFF while working out

Do this for your console Elliptical:Removethe bolts or screws securing the console to the upright assembly. Lift theconsole and confirm that the cable connections are secure. Remove the coverfrom the console's battery bay and install a fresh set of batteries. Replacethe battery cover.2
Detachthe ends of the pedals from the crank axles. Remove the left and right discshields and side shields. Inspect the interior of the base unit and locate theflywheel.3
Inspectthe flywheel as it turns. Locate the magnet installed on the flywheel. Turn theflywheel until the magnet passes in front of the nearby reed switch. Loosen thescrew securing the switch in place. Rotate the switch to reduce the gap betweenit and the magnet. Tighten the screw.4
Replace the left and right disc shields and sideshields. Reattach the ends of the pedals to the crank axles

Good luck, sincerely. G-d bless you.

How do I connect a resistance motor on a schwinn 220 exercise bike?

You will have to remove the plastic housing by unscrewing several screws about the perimeter. Take your time with the housing and inserts as they can be awkward to maneuver. There are 2 circular plastic inserts for the pedals. These can be popped out of the housing with a bit of effort to allow the housing to be cleared of the motor area without having to remove the pedals. Be careful not to break the plastic tabs on the inserts otherwise you will have to tape or glue them back in place. It will be most helpful to take several detail photos of the existing motor set up in case a screw, bolt, nut, spring, etc., pops loose making it difficult to determine from where it came. When I replaced my motor, the factory rep. recommended for easier installation that I first unplug the existing motor and plug in the replacement motor, then set the resistance to high on the control panel. Once the replacement motor has adjusted to the high setting, unplug the power, unbolt the existing motor and then install the replacement motor. Check the photos taken to ensure the motor's base is in the same alignment as the original motor. Plug the power back in and use the control panel the adjust the resistance to ensure the motor is responding. Then replace the plastic housing and again carefully pedal inserts.

Why is the the resistance on my sole e55 remaining easy to spin regardless of which resistance setting I select?

Belt could have come off. if the belt did break or come of it would be very easy to spin pedals. Flywheel ( brake ) could have jammed up. Loosen the covers and look for the brake cable that's connected to the resistance motor. Then run the resistance up to 20. If cable feels loose , the brake is stuck. Sometimes you can pull on the cable and it will free it up.

My 390 E is locked up and I can't move the pedals. I checked the belt, it's still on and it's tight.

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
Electronics Problem You control the tension of the pedals using the buttons on the console. When you assemble the A.C.T. elliptical, you have to thread a group of wires from the console through the upright down to the electronics board. These wires communicate the resistance settings to the electronics board. If the wires twist, disconnect or break, the resistance will not work. You will need to reconnect or replace the wires.

Reebok RL 1500 elliptical lost all resistance

I had the same exact problem, and I mean the EXACT same problem. I also changed out the battery with no change. I contacted the generator company thinking it might be that, but they told me it could be the control board. I ordered a control board, changed it out, and now it works like new.

To sum up: Get a new control board.

How to use the Proform 515S EKG Elliptical?

To mount the elliptical trainer, firmly hold the handlebars or the T-handle and carefully step onto the pedal that is in the lowest position. Next, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion. Note: The pedal disks can turn in either direction. It is recommended that you turn the pedal disks in the direction shown below; however, to give variety to your exercise, you may choose to turn the pedal disks in the opposite direction.
To dismount the elliptical trainer, allow the pedals to come to a complete stop. CAUTION: The elliptical trainer does not have a free wheel; the pedals will continue to move until the flywheel stops. When the pedals are stationary, step off the highest pedal first. Then, step off the lowest pedal.
As you exercise, you can adjust the resistance of the pedals with the resistance knob on the console. To increase the resistance, turn the knob clockwise; to decrease the resistance, turn the knob counterclockwise.
