SOURCE: loose agitator

Remove the center dispenser. Under the dispenser is a plastic cap with a pull handle on it. Pull the cap straight up and you will find a mounting bolt underneath. Using a socket and ratchet, tighten the bolt snug. DO NOT overtighten as this may cause damage to the agitator. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number, there is an excellent exploded view diagram of the agitator components under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading. If you still require assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

SOURCE: need to tighten loose agitator on whirlpool

You need to pop the cap off the center post of the agitator, followed by removing the plastic cap and o-ring inside. The agititator bolt is located underneath. Tighten with (I believe) a 9/16 socket with ratchet. Tighten until snug. Do not overtighten as this can restrict agitator motion and may crack it.

Now, if you talking about the upper portion (auger) of the agitator slipping, you will need to replace the agitator dogs. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

The dogs are small plastic teeth that are located under the center post cap used to grip the auger as it turns. They do wear out periodically and require replacement. If you go to appliancepartspros.com and type in you model number you can view them as item number 10 under the "Agitator, Basket & Tub" section. You can use the part number I provided in the link, or use the Whirpool part number on the website. Both numbers cross reference to the same part. A very inexpensive fix...

If you still need assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

SOURCE: agitator for whirlpool washing machine

The plastic dogs are stripped inside the center of the agitator. To remove agitator pop off the top center cover(slot for screwdriver) There is a 7/16 inch bolt with standard thread, remove it and pull out agitator. Pull the agitator apart, you can stand on the bottom half and pull on the top, you have to reassemble it with the new dogs replaced(there are four in a package) Fairly simple, no special tools needed,
good luck.

How do i replace the agitator in my old heavy duty whirlpool washing machone?

Hello.

The Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine is atop-loading clothes washer. The washer has several cycles to choose from,including cycles for washing normal clothes, permanent press items, delicateand items marked "Hand Wash." To do its job, thewashing machine relies on an agitator, located in the center of the wash tub.The agitator rotates during the wash cycle, moving the clothes around the washtub so that they are cleaned equally. If the agitator is broken, it will notsufficiently agitate the clothes and must be replaced. ·1 Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet or turn off the power supplyin your service panel. · 2 Open thewashing machine lid and remove any clothes remaining inside. · 3 Remove thefabric softener cup by squeezing the bottom lip of the cup and lifting itstraight off. · 4 Pry theagitator cap off of the top of the agitator with a flat-head screwdriver. · 5 Remove thebolt at the bottom of the agitator, using the socket wrench with extension, andthen remove the agitator from the washing machine. Tip the agitator to removethe bolt and washer. · 6 Install thenew agitator onto the drive shaft. · 7 Secure thenew agitator with the bolt that you originally removed. · 8 Press theagitator cap and fabric softener cup back into position on top of the newagitator. · 9 Restore powerto the washing machine to complete the repair.
Thanks.

Need to replace the agitator dogs and can't remove the mover from the bottom section

Direct drive Whirlpool washing machines use a two piece agitator. In-between the two pieces there are cogs, sometimes referred to as "dogs," which will wear out. When the dogs start to wear, you will notice a clicking sound and the top agitator will not move as it should. When you learn how to replace the agitator dogs on a Whirlpool washing machine, you can have your Whirlpool working correctly again. Agitator dogs are available at appliance repair facilities.

* 1

Disconnect the Whirlpool washer from the wall outlet. Open the washer lid to access the agitator.

* 2

Insert a flathead screwdriver in the notch in the agitator cap. Twist the screwdriver to pop the agitator cap off of the agitator. If your model has an inner cap, remove the inner cap by pulling up on the handle and removing it from the agitator.

* 3

Use a socket wrench to remove the bolt in the center of the agitator. Most Whirlpool washers use a 7/16-inch bolt to secure the agitator.

* 4

Grab the bottom of the agitator with both hands and pull it straight up out of the wash tub. Do not have your face directly over the agitator. If it is stuck or pops up too quickly you could injure yourself.

* 5

Set the agitator on the floor and carefully place your feet on each side of the agitator. Grasp the top of the agitator and pull the top half of the agitator off of the bottom half. Turn the top half over to access the dogs.

* 6

Use needle nose pliers to pull the dogs out of the agitator. Install the replacement dogs into the agitator according to the specifications given the manufacturer.

* 7

Set the top half of the agitator back on to the bottom half. Make sure to align the two tabs together between the halves so that they will friction fit. Grab the bottom of the agitator and apply a thin coat of dishwashing detergent on the rubber gasket on the bottom using your finger.

* 8

Set the agitator back into the wash tub and secure it using the retaining bolt. If your model had an inner cap, set the inner cap back into the agitator until it snaps into place.

* 9

Place the top of the agitator into place and press down until it locks into place.

How do I remove the agitator from a compact whirlpool washer model LCR7244DQ2, SERIAL VLG4923565, TYPE 113-01, ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO, AGITATOR PART # 1154680

Retaing bolt on this model is not on top. uses a 1/4 inch hex head screw about 12" down on the outside of the agitator.
Once removed agitator slides upwards off the drive spline. Gentle brute force may be required!
