Worked fine when i drove home but this morning won,t shift out of park. sitting on level ground.
Check your brake lights, if they don't work you can't shift out of park

You have a shorted engine harness, this is not common but it does happen, heat and engine movement cause damage to the harness, this is most common on hi miler cars and vans, the only way to fix it is to start by looking anywhere the harness rubs, that is where the damage occurs.

Have the transmission computer scanned for codes. This trans is completely electroniclly shifted.

trans is shot very common problem you can rebuid it but thats not cheap finding a used one will be very difficult as 96 is a one year only model and there where 2 within that year depending on the buid date of the van

i agree with joseph. the window regulator is bad. it runs off of a cable system
