Computer skipping lines when printing

My printer is skipping lines and sometimes just printing the top or bottom part of a line. I've cleaned it, deep cleaned it and aligned the print head. Nothing is working. I am working with Mavericks 10.9.4. The Pixma has not kept up with the Mac OS's but that may not be the problem. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks so much.

Cleaning usually doesn't help that printhead much. A new one QY6-0049-000 is around $40.00. You remove by lifting the gray handle on the left after removing all the inks.

You will need to replace the printhead or buy another machine.

Why am I getting vertical Yellow lines on my printing?

It sounds like the laser drum is damaged and not collecting toner correctly. First try cleaning the paper path with laser cleaning paper. If that doesn't sort the problem replace the drums.

Printer prints every second line or prints 4 lines then skips a line or only prints half a line.....the top part of the line is missing.

Hello sir; I believe it's time to clean print head and ink cell, power on the machine open the cover ( as you replace cartridge) , when carriage move to the center , then UNPLUG the power cord. then you may move carriage freely by hand all the way to left, noe you can clean up ink cell easily.

There are gaps, skipping lines, even printing the top half of a line then a gap, then the bottom half

run the cleaning cycle in the software for your printer. Sounds like your ink might have gotten a little dry and clogged up.

When printing some lines don't print properly-appears to be just the top half or less of the line will print. It seems it happens every 3rd or 4th line, but has done it on the second line also, so is not...

Try printing out the test page from the printer, this will show you if any of the inkjet holes are getting plugged. If you can't print a test page without the skipping try changing the ink cartridge(s), the test page will show you which one is clogging.

#5 black ink cartridge skips through the middle occasionally

Replacing the print head
The print head may need replacing if, after all print head and ink tank troubleshooting has been performed:

  • The nozzle test appears broken or to have horizontal white streaks.
  • One or more of the colors is missing from the Nozzle Test.
  • The colors are incorrect on the Nozzle Test.
  • A print head error is indicated on the unit.
  • The printer powers off when the print head is installed.
I hope it helps!!!
