Question about Humax DRT800 DVD Recorder w/ 80 hr Tivo

1 Answer

Humax Tivo will not record to DVD

When I try to record a program from Tivo to the DVD, it begins to record but at the end always has the message "Saving Failed".  The only message is "internal error".  I have tried several different brands of DVD-R's.  It was recording fine previously.  The DVD is built into the Humax Tivo unit.  Thank you.

tried cleaning the lens--helped about 50% of the time but still have the problem

Me 3. Exact same symptoms. Reboot doesn't work. And previous recorded DVD's by same Humax give me an "incompatability error".

Lately it is not possible anymore to delete recorded material with the Humax Nano. I use two receivers with one hard disk. and both behave in the same way

I recently got a TIVO so that I could record more then two shows at a time which Time Warner can only do 2 at a time. So I got the adapter to go with the TIVO and there is a problem getting all of the channels that I pay for through Time Warner. I have had several phone calls and Technicians to the house. So far they tell me that with the adapter and the Tivo I will not be able to get any of the on demand channels, and on my premium I won't get them all. Seems crazy to me. Can any one shine some light on this for me. Out of my HBO line up I get about Half of them. On my Variety Pass channels I get about one quarter of them if that. HELP. This seems nuts that they are not able to all work if you are paying for them.

After the update to 1.15 I had to delete EVERY recording on the unit. After that, any new recordings would burn just fine. However, some have found that same failure even after a hard reboot (repower). Called Humax level-1 support and they suggested a replacement unit so I swapped it out. But I've since learned that TiVo "pushes" a DVD firmware patch (possible supplied by Humax) from 1.08 to 1.15 and that patch is the culprit. That patch is suppose to make the DVD burn at a higher spin rate. After talking with level-2 Humax support they heard of the problem and said "the unit is working as designed", meaning, the DVD drive manufacturer specs say the drive is capable of a faster burn rate. So now I have Humax DTR800 #2 and so-far-so-good, but TiVo hasn't pushed the patch onto the box yet!

Playback on recorded disk

The DVD has burned incorrectly and the data has likely corrupted somewhat to the point where the DVD player/writer can't read it. You may be able to watch it on your computer with a DVD drive. Try saving it to your computer, then erasing the disc and trying to record something short to it and play it back - if it plays back, it's likely to have been a recording problem, however, if you get the same problem, it may be a dodgy disc, a faulty DVD player/writer, or a format problem. Try this, in order left to right. Copy DVD to PC -> Erase DVD -> Record on DVD from TV -> Play back If plays back Erase DVD -> Continue as normal If not Buy DVD-RW (emphasis on the minus) -> Try using that If that works continue as normal, otherwise... Return the DVD player/writer under warranty for repair/replacement.

Humax DRT400 Tivo won't burn content to DVDs

My solution is going to require entering the unit, so you may want a qualified service tech to perform the job, but i would check the connection between the burner and the board.
