I have a mad dog dvd rom dual layer burner. I just burned 2 dvds and after they were done I put them back in the drive and they worked. now when I tried to put them in again they are reading as blank CD's and not dvds
No cause when the burning process was done the dvd was ejected. I then placed the DVD back into the drive and it worked fine. i took out to burn a second dvd. When the second one was done and the burner software ejected the DVD i put the DVD back in and then my computer only read it as a blank cd when before i burned it it read it as a blank dvd. Now i'm pretty knowledgeable about computers and i know the dvd drive was selected before burning it. Now if I did burn to hard drive then why is my reader reading the DVD as a CD?No cause when the burning process was done the dvd was ejected. Well according to this site: http://www.ehow.com/way_5152492_easy-burn-dual-layer-dvds.html you should be able to just drag and drop files (once a blank disc is inserted) and have windows burn it. This site: http://www.ehow.com/how_6979535_burn-dual_layer-dvds-windows-vista.html says it's only capable with windows Vista and higher. In my opinion, reading both these articles you should be fine with windows vista and higher but if you're still using XP you may need to purchase software capable of burning on this type of hardware. sometimes reaching out to the manufacturer will get you the software if you tell them you've lost it. There's usually a charge.
The bad news is most likely you will not be able to. If the specification for the device is a max 4x speed it most likely won't even be able to use the 8X media you have. You have to match the media to the device. All the specification data I find on the device indicates it writes double layer disk at max speed of 4X. It will write single layer disk at 8X.
Do you have Windows XP? If so XP does not burn DVD's on its own it requires third party software.
A simple Google search will find free software for you.
I personaly like burn4free it can be found here.
It could be lower quality media that the drive does not like for 16x writing. I would try a higher quality blank DVD. It could also be the software you are using. I recommend imgburn from http://www.imgburn.com/ which is a great little free app. This program is a very no nonsense burning app without the bloat of most other programs.
If you buy a single or 5 pack of high end media and use imgburn yet it still will not burn at 16x speeds I would contact Mad Dog as you may have a bad drive.
try downloading a new system at www.slysoft.com it works graet and you can burn read and rewrite with thier software you can also test drive it for 20 days to see if you like it lala linda
According to http://www.mdmm.com/spec.php?productid=160 (check the requirements tab, note that it doesn't work on firefox due to bad coding), it only supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP (even though it doesn't say so, it's likely it's also supported by Windows 98 and Vista) but unless someone made drivers for mac os x, it doesn't look like it'll work.
