SOURCE: need to know how to clean a rowenta iron plate

As long as it's not a coated surface - plain steel - get 0000 steelwool to rub it with. It will take some elbow grease but it will work to clean and (almost) polish the surface.

SOURCE: removing deposits on iron plate

Try adding some CLR to the iron, fill it up with water, and run self clean. Then wipe bottom of iron with an old towel. Repeat with clean water in the iron, to rinse out the CLR and minerals.

The iron leaks water when sitting upright and in ust.

Time to buy a new iron. It just is not worth the time or money to repair it.

The electrical connection 0n Rowenta steam iron DG5030 is inconsistent. I wish to disassemble and check the tightness of connection

Screws may hold the shell together but the halves are usually clipped together by hooks around the edge of the shell to discourage would be 'electricians' from doing home repairs. Once you've removed the screws and the body held by the screws doesn't come apart, look for a point where you can insert a screw driver in it to pry the body part out. If you can't do that, then don't do it. best thing to do is take it to a repair agent. At least it's safer.

How to remove cord on Rowenta DZ2061

Your iron probably has tamper proof outer screws with a center pin...don't be intimidated. First, try to remove the screws with a tiny screwdriver from an eyeglass repair kit. If that doesn't work, get a Torx T-20 nutdriver attachment.

If you have to replace the cord, here's a possible supplier: Smallappliance.com

How to disassemble a Rowenta DE-871

First remove screw the on the back of the iron. Next pull out on the fill tub on the front of the iron. Pliers might be needed. Another screw will seen at this time. Remove this screw and the sole plate will separate from the top portion of the DE 871.

Rowenta Iron-Professional Luxe The power cord seems to short out when you move iron. You can wiggle it next to the movable ball and it clicks on and off. The two screw heads on bottom appear to be special...

I drilled out the nubs in the center of the screws. removed the screws, and took off the back plate. The problem is that the cord seems to be abraiding when it swivels, and eventually wears thru. It seems like a fire hazard and should be looked into by Rowena. Anyway, I cut out the damaged cord and reattached it. Problem fixed..

Wont turn on

I agree.

It is probably a loose screw (if you shake the iron, you may hear it rattle).. The iron is most likely good, just needs a 5 minute repair.

If you want to do it, or find someone to do it:
1. UNPLUG the iron.
2. remove the 4 screws from the back end of the iron.
3. Open the back plastic plate.
4. There will be a wire with a loose screw; tighten it.
5. There may be a broken wire near the screw; if so, remove the eyelet that is on the screw. put the screw back on and wrap the broken wire end onto the screw and tighten.
6. Replace the back plate.
7. Plug back in and use for a few more years.

Hope this helps!
