On most computers, you can resume working by pressing your computer's power button. However, not all computers are the same. You might be able to wake your computer by pressing any key on the keyboard, clicking a mouse button, or opening the lid on a laptop. Check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.

My dell says hybernating while on and hang

Hybernation is a power saving feature in microsoft windows. Often times this will cause the computer to freeze.

One solution is to disable hybernation in the power settings located inside the control panel.

On windows vista / 7 you can do this by clicking on the start button (lower left hand corner of the screen)
Then going to "Control Panel"
At the top right of the screen should be a search box, simply type "Power" Into this box and options to edit / change the power plan should appear. Choose edit power plan,
Make sure any options pertaining to hybernation are disabled, You can also adjust when the screen and hard drive shut off during inactivity. For desktops it is recommended to set all options to "Never"

Once finished click the "Save Settings" Button. and you are all set.
You can adjust these settings as much as needed, they can always be undone.

On windows 8 you can access the control panel by moving the mouse to the upper right hand corner of the screen and choosing "Settings" or "Computer Settings" the same procedures apply after this step.

Dashboard

Hybernation is probably turned off.
to turn it on

start -> control panel -> power settings -> hybernation tab
enable hybernation.

I'd recommend you reinstall the driver software for your dashboard screen / video card.

Do you have the cds or should I get you a download?

1525 wont come out of hybernation and the battery wont hold a charge either. Ive tried removing the battery, pushin the power button, lettin it die n try bootin up. Its stuck in hybernation, help me...

Hybernation is one of the worst idea's that microsoft has come out with, it usually ends up corrupting windows making it useless. The only option is a fresh install of windows, and I recommend the hybernation feature be disabled. The battery may start to charge when the new operational windows is running, if not! replacement needed.

My emachine isn't starting up after hybernation, unless i press the power button and reboot. Why is this?

Hi there,
When your system goes to hybernation it creates a file on the root drive called hyberfil.sys in most instances this file gets corrupted and is causing the computer not to wake up from hybernation.
You would have to try and delete this file so that it will re enable the normal hybernation wake of your computer, here's how to do it:
http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/windows-7-delete-hibernation-file-hiberfil-sys/
Just have to reverse the process to re-enable hybernation.
My recommendation would be to just disable Hybernation and just let the computer go to sleep if you're going to leave it idle.
Hope this helps!

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545.The battery finished and the notebook hibernated. After I charged it and switched it on I realized that my wireless was disabled. I tried pressing the Fn+F2 key & it didnt...

In most cases the WiFi and Lan connections are disabled in hybernate mode otherwise the pc may be switched back on and lose data as the battery is almost flat.
Re boot and all should be well.

When waking from hybernation - woulnd't boot for 2 minutes

Hello ccc9294,

The system may be trying to restore the browser last settings (including tabs) when resuming from hybernation. Try closing the browser before going into hybernation. Then check to see how long the system takes to resume from hybernation.
If the system still takes too long then look at task manager (Control+Alt+Delete keys). Check the processes to see which ones may be taking up too much cpu or memory resources. It may be a system security application like McAfee or Symantec working in the backgound while coming out of hybernation.

I thank you for giving a rating to this solution if it has been helpful.

Have a great day,

Random Hibernation

this sounds like power settings options.

what i can suggest now is that......................

go to the Power Options in the Control Panel and do the following.

  • first uncheck the hibernate option on the hibernate tab
  • use your computer and see if the problem re-appears, go to the control panel and on the power option, select Never to all options when using battery or ac power.
cheers...............
