Download "Malwares Bytes" (free edition), also run "Spybot" (free) and run "Avast" antivirus (free also). You may have to use "Combo fix" or "Rkill" but try the first 3 first. If you are already using an antivirus then skip using "avast"

If you want a faster computer, disable unused Windows features like Windows aero and hibernate feature.
Update your Windows system and your antivirus once a week.
Make sure you scan your computer.
Disable unused start up program to make your computer start faster.
Enable boot defrag.
I recomended you to use Advanced System Care from IOBIT, or any tune up program to maintain your computer more easily.

Registry usb

Yes, transferring data files from your expansion drive into the computer or from the computer into the expansion drive can make your computer run slowly.
If it's music and/or movies you are transferring back and forth it's simply because the computer is using most of the processor speed and memory to do it. That's why when another program or the internet is opened your computer will appear to run slowly.
If it's just slow in recognising the contents of your expansion drive it may be due to the age of your computer.
Alternatively it may be that your computer and/or expansion drive is fragmented and has registry errors. Both of these will cause - can cause - your computer to appear slow to load.
You can defragment your hard drive from within the computer. Using Windows XP, open 'my computer' andright click on the 'C drive icon' icon and then choose TOOLS. Open the defragmenting software and let it defrag the hard drive.
To fix registry faults search for and download some free software called free Windows registry repair. http://download.cnet.com/Free-Window-Registry-Repair/3000-2086_4-10606555.html
When downloaded, run the registry fixer by opening the program and click on 'scan'. Wait until the scan is complete and click on 'fix'. Job done...

I have a computer with a ECS p4m800-m7 ver 1 motherboard that is runninng real slow, I have plenty of room on the drive, and maxed memory to 2 gigs I have run disk cleanup, defrag, scandisk, reg clean,...

No. It should not be slow. You may have a virus on your hard drive, or you have too many running programs in the background. If you look down at your by your clock count how many you have. If you have at least 4 going try shutting non important ones down.

Do a search for ccleaner, you temp folders could be getting full and you need to clean and ccleaner will do that.

Computer running slow

Hi;

Running slow few possibilities:

You need more RAM memory -cheap to buy off ebay,
Hard disk space running low - cheap again on ebay,

If its running slow because you are running a high graphics application then you may need a better Graphics card. But ultimatley it will com down to those and finally your CPU and motherboard.. but by then it would be ccheaper for you to buy a newer system.. Again thats cheap from ebay too.

I hope this helps, please don't forget to rate my solution.

Thanks.

My pc is very slow running.

A lot of the time.. well more like 99% of the time, if a virus has infected your computer, your installed virus protection program will no be able to detect it. So what to do?

-Disable your "system restore" first. 95% of viruses live in your system restore. If a you don't, than the next part will be a waste of time.

-Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ . Run the scan....

good luck!

Toshiba mk 4004gah

When Windows starts up, a number of programs will start automatically. Most of them don't need to start but they do. The more programs that start up, the longer your computer will take to load everything.

The first thing to do is to get rid of all the junk in your computer. Uninstall any program you no longer want.
Clearout all your old temporary internet files.
Do a registry and adware clean.
Get rid of old documents and files, anything you do not need.

To see the programs that start when you boot up:
Click Start
Click Run
Type msconfig
Click OK
When the window opens Click Startup

You will see a vast number of programs that your computer loads each time you boot. You can uncheck a lot of them. Do a google search for startup programs before you uncheck anything. There are some good guides that will tell you what to allow to start and what you don't need. Note any unchecked program will not be deleted or uninstalled and will still work when you want them. You will need to restart your computer if you make any changes in msconfig

I would also suggest you defrag your hard drive.
Go to Start-Programs-Accessories-Syatem Tools-Defragmenter
Follow the instructions.

Do not rule out the possibility that you have a virus or some other spyware program running in the background which slows things down. Check these out too.
