Whats is the recomended speaker for crown x2000 amp

These speakers are not designed for your truck. I recomend asking chevy of what brands and what size speakers will fit in your truck.

If you plan to add more speakers to push 4 of the inside the car I would go with a good 4 channel amp at least 150watts RMS per channel. That should be plenty with put worrying about blowing the speakers.

I always recomend Motorcraft spark plug wires but NGK and Autolite also make a good set also. Beware of the cheaper brands and sets, remember you get what you pay for

if ur output power amp is defective u will have that problem - meaning the moment u connect load across it it will go into circuit protection to limit/stop excessive output current. make sure the speaker terminals are connected to +/- output terminals. in bridge mode use only channel 1 and that too with 4 ohms speaker only otherwise amp will clip. considering all connections are okay if it still clips when speaker is connected, u have a faulty power amp section. this the way ur amp is designed

What kind of speakers are they? Liquid cooled speakers? I am assuming you are working with the bazooka speakers? Honest sugguestion: get different speakers. Bazooka is not that good of a brand. looking at bazooks's webiste the magnet size is only 30 ounces! The only good thing I have seen that have come out of bazooka was way back in the day their "P. Miller" series (a.k.a. Master P) And I never tested the subs, only the amp. What kind of car are you putting them in?

Next, a 4 channel amp is usually designated for the midrange/tweeter speakers. If you want good hard bass, only a mono or duel channel amp will put out the ohms that you need. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you get 20 dollar speakers and a 50 dollar amp, do NOT expect to hang with the big boys, even if the speaker is a 30 inch and the amp claims to be a 10,000 watt. Stay away from sony, stay away from bazooka, stay away from unknown brands.

My ideal set up would be Alpine type R or type X for subs, a Fosgate or memphis amp, and mb quart mid/tweeters. All are readily available, so competition keeps the prices affordable. Look at magnet weight when choosing subs.

It sounds more like you are overdriving the speakers not clipping the amp. If the output rating for the amp is 1000W into 4 ohms, this is approximately 500W into an 8 ohm load. Your speakers are rated for 400W. If you are running the amp at full output, that is too much power for the speakers and either the speakers are warming up too much and failing or are being extruded too far and failing. Your best bet is to better match the amp/speaker setup. Crown amps have built in clipping indicators and I believe that the xti series also has a compression circuit that would prevent distortion on the output side.

To confirm my suspicions, in what manner are the speakers failing? Are they completely open or do they sound distorted?

you need to find out what size speakers you have now and upgrade them with that size the amp you get will be based on the rms rating of the speaker. Example if the speakers rms rating is 100 watts the get a amp that puts out between 100 and 120 watts rms also to add bass you could go with a subwoofer that will add all your low freq. If you want something that doesn't take up alot of room try a bass tube you can get one amplifed or not.
