if the unit is directly connected via USB, another program or prev installed scanner software is using "the path" to communicate with the scanner. Can only use one scanner at a time with windows.

Epson WF2530 All-In-One Communication Error empty ink levels when ink cartridges are full.

How long did you shut off the machine and computer? Some need at least one minute to lose the query. If you can, try another Epson cartridge and see if this is the problem. It literally can not find a full cartridge of ink. Take it out, reinstall it. Make sure it is the brand that you used to use, some don't have the same lead position. Hope it helps.

Epson scanner cannot communicate

My solution was that Epson Scan was set to connect via network instead of local. (All was working fine, then it quit-something changed this setting) Try this, go to start, choose all programs, choose Epson folder, choose Epson Scan, choose Epson Scan Setting. In the pop up box set the connection to local or network, whichever is appropriate. Close the window and open photoshop and all works fine. It could be that your problem is the opposite of mine- I try switching this to the other setting even if the change is wrong, then switch it back to see if that works too.

Good Luck.

Epson scan icon missing

I have the same problem. Re-installing the 141mb Epson software does not fix the problem. I can print just fine but since there is no scan icon I am unable to scan. If I try scanning from the printer, it says "communication error". I'm fast approaching "junk it: stage and will search for another printer brand. Wasting way too much time on this one simple task.
