SOURCE: my the shutter release button isn't working

I'll give you a couple: 1. Is your mode in shutter priority or focus priority? Check your menus and go into the AF area to see which one it is. If it's in focus priority you will have to be focused on a subject before the shutter releases. The other setting is 'release priority' which will enable you to snap the shutter regardless if you're focused or not. If you tried to re-compose the picture you were trying to take, you may have locked in focus and then when you re-composed it was not in the same area thus not releasing the shutter.
2. 2 button re-set.

SOURCE: No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed

Are those NiMH batteries? Have you tried resetting the camera? If no standard way, just take out batteries for a few minutes, the more the merrier, let the tension build, and replace them. Try tapping on the lens area, it might loose something up. Best I can do, know it aint much ;] Good luck!

SOURCE: No picture taken when shutter release is pressed

if you see no reation of the pressing of the button i.e. no focusing, no error message nothing , then most probably a simplest problem , the shutter release button may not be working for few reasons : 1) defective switch. 2) defective flex cable. 3) camera exposed to some physical jerk or dropping resulting into disalingment between inner switch and the shutter release button.

SOURCE: nikon d40 autofocus

Dan62, your camera will never be able to focus on objects with no contrast. The manual specifically states this. However, you can put the AF marker over something with some contrast, half press the shutter, so that it will focus, hold the shutter button halfway while you recompose the shot, and then press it all the way.

A note to others using the D40/D40X/D60 that are having problems with autofocus: please remember that this camera will not autofocus with mechanically driven lenses. It will only AF with "AF-S" or "AF-I" lenses.

How to open battery door for vivicam F126

Well after looking at the manual, it is of no help but the pictures show it hinging open. Try pressing down and sideways along the compartment door from hinge line to outer edge. It it slides, it should unlock.

Read reviews that indicated Vivitar customer support told an owner to visit a camera shop. Manual is on the CD included with the camera.

Good luck.

My Vivitar takes blurry pictures. Kindly show me what to do to sharpen the focus. Thanks.

To focus on your subject, lightly push the shutter button (the button you use to take pictures) only half way down. When you push the shutter button half way down, this auto-focuses the camera and you can then fully press the shutter button to take your picture.

My shutter will not open. The power button presses in and nothing happens. I have since got a new battery that was the problem, shutter still will not open. Camera is not operative, please...

Can you get any signs of life? playback pictures etc? Try pressing the playback button instead of the power button. If camera display works then press the picture button and see if the camera will switch over and the lens extends. Also check if the tab on the battery door is not broken. This operates a micro switch to cut off power
