Water (cleaning solution) is gravity fed to the floor cleaning brushes, but the attachment hose is fed from a small pump. If it only leaks when turned on and operating, check the pump for leaks at the pump itself or the connecting hoses.

Make sure that that the lid for the dirty water tank is locked on to the bucket, the other is make sure that the filter on the inside of the lid is not all the way up, needs to be a gap 1/4 inch or so.

Check the end of the upholstery hose, it may be cracked.

SOURCE: leaking from bottom

It is the steamvac pump that is bad. When you fill up the tank with solutions, even though it is not running the solution leaks out, and when you turn it on it sprays up and out the sides etc. Also the attachment doen't work either, no solutions comes out. Apparently the float sticks in this. My husband fixed it once, and now he can't, need a new part. Options are take it to a hoover service dealer, or I found 2 place online that sell the part. One is http://buyitnow64.stores.yahoo.net/hostrepufor5.html and the other is http://www.sweeper-city.com/ho5brstpu.html, this site if you look at different size pumps have a description of the problem: "If your Hoover Steam Vac is leaking or water will not come out of the attachment hose, then this is the part that you probably need !!!
This part is for F5914-900 model. Hope this helps

If the tank is leaking, when removed from the cleaner, it is not user serviceable.

Hi, the Hoover f5915-900 that we have is leaking the clean solution when we are using the attachment. but the leakage seems to be coming from the bottom of machine

With this style of machine there are hoses, or connections to transfer the cleaning solution. these can fail after some time. Stop using the machine, leaking fluid onto the internal parts can become a electricution/fire hazard. take the unit to a service center for repair.

My Hoover Carpet Cleaner is leaking out the bottom when I use the hand tool

this could be the little white valve that the water comes out of, if its leaking from here or if its leaking at the bottom of the machine it could be the pump
