When any of my TV remote controls start working intermittently, and after checking the batteries [replacing if necessary], I open them and clean internal the pc board with "Electro Klene 148" ... with successful results. About 1/2 of the buttons on an RCA Universal remote control stopped working, I replaced the batteries ... to no avail ... so I opened it up to clean it internally. I noticed a fairly heavy coating of what I'll guess is a conductive coating of some sort, that helps the internal contacts make connection. I still attempted to clean it; still to no avail. The same buttons are still not working consistently. Help!
Thanx!

Cleaning will help only for removing dirt. I think in your case, the contacts in the circuit board and the rubber pad is damaged with heavy use. So use CARBON INK to recreate the contacts in the circuit board. Also use carbon dots(Available in sticker form) in rubber pad.
I think, this will fix your problem

I have the same problems with multiple remote controls. I DO clean the grease off and they work again. The question is IS the grease human goo or a conductive grease - that perhaps has been contaminated by human goo so ti does not work well.
Does anyone know?
