Sounds like a broken drive belt. Take off the front cover and look for a long thin belt off the drum or broken in two

No heat in the dryer. It is Maytag Neptune gas dryer about 9 years old. The drum rotates just fine but heat stopped a couple of days ago.

Dryer heats but drum does not turn when the start button is pushe

You need to check the drum belt. With dryer empty, reach in and give it a spin. If the belt is good, it will stop in 1/2 turn or less when released. If the belt broke, it will spin almost a full turn.

My dryers works when cold but stops working after it heats up.

does everything shut off or just heat if its just heat but motor works and drum is turning than-quickest sulotion would be cleaning the vents from the dryer and out through the wall or window whereever your vent goes. the reason it turns off is because it has a limit thermostat that turns off at about 150 degrees so when the vents are clogged the hot air cant escape anywhere so it stays in dryer and overheats quickly take off the vent in the back than turn on your dryer if it doesnt turn off clean your vents

if everything stops working than you most likely have a bad motor

You probably need to check your dryers drum glides Reach inside and try to turn the drum. It should be VERY easy to turn. If it seems stiff it probbaly needs new glides.

Motor not strong enough

The problem dosen't sound like the motor. Check to see if the drive belt is loose and slipping. This is the usual cause of the problem you describe. If not, the bearings for the drum may be going bad. The heating elements should turn off shortly if the drum stops so there is little danger of overheating.
