SOURCE: Installing TL794DD bathroom faucet

All faucets install easily if you have the proper tools. Answer these questions first: 1. how many holes are their in the surface of your sink? Is there a faucet installed now? If yes, you may only need to remove that faucet and use the same feed lines under the sink to hook up the new one. Take your faucet to the hardware store and ask the plumbing clerk if the hook ups under the sink are different from what your new faucet appears to be compatible with. good luck

The base of the moen faucet is loose from the base it sits on

Usually there is a nut underneath the countertop it is mounted on. Probably just needs a good wrench tightening

Leaky faucet

This is generally due to a loose or faulty cartridge. To fix:

1. Turn off water supply valves under sink.

2. Block the sink drain to avoid losing small parts.

3. Remove faucet handle. It is attached by a set screw, an odd size (I actually used a T9 torx screwdriver successfully, even though the set screw is hex head, since I did not have a matching allen key). The set screw is quite far into the handle, ~3cm, through a hole in the bottom of the handle. Depending on your countertop layout, you may have to actually remove the entire faucet from the countertop in order to get access to it, in which case follow the appropriate parts of your faucet installation directions in reverse.

4. Remove dome. It will come off with a gentle turn/pull.

5. Check the tightness of the exposed large hex nut. This is the piece that holds the cartridge in place. If you are lucky, it is just loose, and that's your problem; otherwise you will need a new cartridge.

6. Unscrew that nut, remove. Pull out the cartridge.

7. Replacement cartridges may be found at your local Moen dealer, or may be ordered directly from Moen +1-800-Buy-Moen. Parts are free due to the lifetime warranty. Part #1255 includes the cartridge, cartridge nut, and set screw. The nut must be changed with the cartridge (presumably due to its wear characteristics).

To reassemble:

8. If you have it, place a very small amount of plumber's silicone lubricant on the back of the cartridge, on the rubber seals around the three holes.

9. Assemble in reverse order of disassembly. The cartridge only goes in one way, due to three guiding channels on its perimeter.

Enjoy!

How to tighten mown faucet. Wobbles at base on countertop

There are screws that come up through the bottom. You may have to remove the faucet to tighten it. While you have it out, throw it away and buy a new one.

Getting ready to install the Moen DN2160 Curved shower Rod. In reading through the instructions I am confused about what is necessary to install in a tile shower

hi doug. the only issue with tile is that drilling holes in tile requires a special tile cutting drill bit. These are common. I got some last week at a home depot. J.

No place to screw the faceplate onto

On your mixing valve, Your hot and cold water should hook to the valve at 9:00 and3:00 positions. You should have two ears at 12:00 and 6:00 positions which are used to screw the faceplate on. If you don't see these ears, the hole that the valve is in may not be big enough for you to see them. If it is tile, they may be covered with tile. If it is fiberglass, you would usually would have an oblong hole, longer at top and bottom, to see ears. If it is fiberglass, you may want to drill through where screws go, and through bolt your valve so it is tight. The hole in tile and/or concrete should be oblong so you can see screw holes.

Moen 3836...lost installation manual...what size drill bit for the hand held brkt.

There is no single answer that I can give you because it will vary due to material you are mounting to. If you are going to be mounting on ceramic tile or fiberglass shower wall I would recommend you use the plastic anchors that come with the bracket and mounting screws. Use drill size 3/16 drill holes and insert anchors. Mount bracket and screw in place. If you have hollow wall with nothing but sheetrock to hold the bracket I would get small butterfly anchors from hardware store and drill hole slightly larger than the wings on fastener when they are folded back along side the screws. If you have a wood backer board behind shower wall then drill holes with 1/8 inch bit and use screws long enough to reach through shower wall and sheet rock and mount bracket. Hope this helps you. Thanks P.S. If you have to drill thru ceramic tile you will need a carbide tipped bit.

Moen shower faucet problem

I need to ask a few questions to solve your problem.

What Model Shower body is it?
How big is the white plastic piece?

If it is about 6 inches around (just smaller than the face plate) and you are installing this shower body in a preexisting tub/shower, this piece can be discarded. It is a guide that is used so the tile contractor knows how much room is needed to service the valve once it is installed.

If this is not the case, just post with a few details and I'll modify my response.
