There are many companies out there that say they are "Secret Shopper" companies, the MSPA endorses many of these companies and most of them are legitimate. Do not ever pay to become a mystery shopper, authentic companies will not charge a membership fee to join and will never make you pay up front to become a shopper. If this company offers you employment and asks for any personal details of acct info. DO NOT give it to them.

For a full list of MSPA companies, visit http://www.mysteryshop.org/member-companies and if the company is not on this list, I would not trust them.

I don't know about Intelli-shop, but Shoppers, Inc. is legitimate - in business over 30 years. Offers will come only from @shopperjobs.com or @insightyoucanuse.com domains, not hotmail, gmail, etc. There are scammers out there who say they are with Shoppers, Inc. and steal the logo to make themselves look legit but are not.

take the cheque to the local FBI branch or police station and ask for action on it

Yes, there are a number of Mystery Shopper companies in the U.S. In most cases, you would be an independent contractor and you only get paid if they accept your report.
