Until about a month ago the dehumidifier worked perfectly, then I noticed it was not running though the humidity was high. I found that wherever I set the humidity level it would start moving up every few seconds until it reached the maximum of 85% where it would stay. It will still work above 85%, but if I set it any lower it just climbs back to 85% and stays there. Nothing seems to help and there are no error codes and it still works otherwise. Is it toast? Or can it be fixed?

My guess is the unit knows it can't reach 35% humidity, bacause it's measuring the ambient humidity. Dehumidifiers usually can't drop the RH more than around 10%.
My guess is the RH in the room is around 75% when this happens.

It may be too cool in the basement for it to work. Mine doesn't work if its 67 or below. Take it upstairs and see if it works there, where it is warmer.

Hey Art Miner, thank you for your post!
I understand that your dehumidifier is not operating properly. You should put it on a continuous drain mode to see if it will continue to pull moisture. Could you please provide feedback to what your appliance is doing once set to a continuous drain? -Matt
