SOURCE: Lacie 1T Poulton design external hard drive is clicking

Before you resort to freezers and desperation, know that the external power supplies for these things are a. crucial and b. delicate. If the output voltage is down for any reason, it can produce the same clicking symptoms. I would get to a repair shop, and ask them to test the drive with a 'known good' power supply. I did so this very morning with a LaCie drive: no more clicking, happily mounting drive...and power supply replaced under warranty. Good luck

How do I fix a broken port on my LaCie 320 gb hard drive that won't connect to the info?

It's really quite a simple fix... Simply disassemble the drive casing, and remove the hard drive itself, it's actually quite simple. Then install the hard drive into another, replacement external case - they are available at electronics retailers, computer stores, The best deals are found online at locations such as Amazon, eBay, or buy.com.

I need to install lacie stup assistant.or download

Hello,
LaCie Setup assistant is made to make it easier for the customer.
If you do not have it, you can format your drive using your MAC or PC and you can download manual and utilities from the LaCie website, which are the only things the assistant really does.

Harddisk woun't mount

The hard disk inside it has probably died. Take it out of the case and put it in the pc directly - if even now it's not responsive then it's surely dead - junk it. if now you can see it then the electronics if the case are dead - junk it and buy a new external case.

My 500G Lacie external drive is no longer detected by windows. Sometimes it will say the USB port or device is mulfuction. Sometimes it does not detect it at all.

Does this happen in several computers? If it does, then the interface is probably damaged, in which case you could (at your own risk) disassemble the drive and install the hard drive inside a desktop computer to access your data., since theres a standard SATA hard drive inside.

My LaCie is not recognized by my computer, makes a clicking noise when it tries to start up. I've used this external hard drive for several years with no problems.

It has most probably just reached its "end of life". Several years for a hard drive reading and writing is a good track record.
You can probably take the casing apart and replace the hard drive. Just make sure that this is an USB 2.0 interface before spending the money.
