SOURCE: Lite On LVW 1107 HC1 DVD Recorder

Concerning a Liteon LVW-1107.
I have had this same problem many times up until I decided that my machine tends to prefer +R or +RW disks. I have had no problems with +R or +RW disks.

( If I record something on a +RW disk and decide I want to copy it to -Rs I will copy the files to the hard drive and then reburn to
-Rs using Nero.)

Once you have had the disk in the machine and it will not play for whatever reason you might just as well throw it away and get a new disk and start over.

You may need to pull the power cord and let the machine reset on occasion also.

Realize I am telling you what works for me.
It may or may not work for you.
I hope it does.

SOURCE: lite on lvc 9016g will not prepare dvds or record

I had a problem with a Lite-On that had been working fine then stopped reading any disc--sometimes it would go through the motions of recording if a disc was in and a timed recording was due to start. After recording it would not read the disc. I tried a DVD/CD lens cleaner but it didn't appear to even spin up. A google search led me to find the a dirty laser would cause this. I removed the cover and with a clean lint free cloth I used rubbing alcohol to clean it and it has worked fine since. While I had the cover off I took the unit to my garage and used an air compressor to blow all the dust out of the unit and cleaned the laser again just in case. That was about 6 weeks ago and it works fine. My unit has a cooling fan that I think contributed to the dust problem.

I am attempting to burn a disc off of idvd and after inserting the ativa disc it ejects it and says to insert a recordable disc. Any ideas why? The disc are new just opened.

Try another blank disk. When you put it in, do not click on any prompts or anything like that. It is possible something got burned on the bottom of the disk. It is also possible, you need to use a CDROM and not a DVDRROM. Also, if you look at the bottom of the disk, you will see a section of a different color starting from the middle and moving out if there is any information on the disk.

CyberHome DVD 1600 won't record to Sony disk

I believe the recorder is bad, it should be able to accept all brands and types of disks. You might want to try another brand and type of disk just to make sure, if it does not work, the recorder is bad. Good luck to you!

Since it went into "disk recovery mode" it now will not play dvds

Got the same problem. Happened 2 months after guarantee expired. **** machine. The only good thing is the harddrive and that is made by HITACHI not Panasonic! I go Sony next time. Panasonic quoted £200 plus to fix the problem. I only paid £220 when I bought it new.

I would like to try for the first time to record a DVD on my HP nx5000 Notebook. On a label enclosed with the blanks I have purchased I read: ?Use of this disc in incompatible recorders may lead to...

Hi there.
Yes of course you can use that disk to burn to, most recorders these days don't get damaged and can write to just about any disk which is on the market.
The message that comes with the blank disks is just a generic message which covers the disk manufacturer from liability, if the disk is incompatible then the recorder will not write to it, it will not damage the recorder.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

My DVD writer reads but does not write.

DVD discs have to be formatted before they can be recorded on.

Record to disk

I was having the same problem and tried many different types of DVD-R (16x, 8x, even 4x thining speed might be the problem) finally went to the web page and downloaded the updated program. When I put that download into the disk drive the machine read it and the problem went away. Had not been able to use high speed before that either but it worked after the updated program was in it.

Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

Play Back

Some DVD players can't read -R & -RW disks. When you finalize make sure it is in Video mode not VR mode so the recorded disk will be able to work in most other DVD players. Also some DVD players only read recorded disks rated up to 1x, 4x, 8x, 16x, or a combination of these speeds.
