Technics 1210 pop up light?

I recently installed two pop lights and two tone arms on a set of technics 1210s. Use technics replacement parts. Everything works fine except for one of the pop lights. when i press the start/stop button the pop up light goes faint. Also when i slow down or speed up the platter with my hand it also goes faint. i have tried changing the wires coming from the bulb around. but there is no change. I have also checked my soldering to make sure their are no problems with any of the connections.

Maybe you should try putting a smaller (in Watts) lamp in the pop light...

Hi i would lick to send my tone arm and base off to be anodised they have asked me what metal it is made of can you please tell me also the pop up light shell.thanks

They are asking this because anodising is especially suited to aluminium alloys, but not to steel.

Anodising can be done in various colours and finishes. Steel can be chrome plated, shiny or dull, and also plated with other coloured finishes such as cadmium.

The tone arm in this photo of the SL-1200Mk2 looks to be chromed, which means it is steel. To find out use a small magnet at the midway point to see if an attraction can be felt.

My mk5's lights blink when I press the start button?

May i ask which lights you mean, also the pitch? And does after that everything works fine?... then i don't see a problem to be honest. But i'll check my mk5(refurbished really everything only i'm busy with the tone arm wire rewiring, so i can't move it.But now is the time to replace your capacitors for better then standard ones, if you see how old they are and replacing the potentiometres and main wires etc. almost 15 years old. The so calles refurbushing by the often one person stores is a waste of monet, just do it yourself.
Greetings richard and i'll come back on the subject, when the table is ready.

I have recently removed the tone arm assembly and replaced the tonearm rest on my 1210's and now the tonearm is stiff horizontally so it stays in the same place and won't move across with the groove....

Check the arm wires have not got caught around the anti skate mechanism.
Did you adjust the screw / lock nut on top of the arm?. It's not supposed to be moved but if you did it might be to tight.

No Power to 1210s

Problem is not the fuses, but the power supply / power transformer has blown. This is why you should always wrap exposed wiring with electrical tape or heatshrink tubing.

The power supply can be purchased HERE, but this is not an easy replacement. And if you blew it by not properly replacing the Pop-up light, than I DON'T suggest you try to replace the power supply on your own either. You could really cause even more damage, and possible harm to yourself and your property.

Tone arm and stylus light spare and replacent .

For Technics parts, check www.1200s.com, for a service center in your area, check the Panasonic web site (parent company of Technics): http://www.panasonic.co.uk/customer-Support/svc-dealer-locator.asp As for instructions on doing this, it's not an easy fix. You have to solder 5 very thin (as thin as dental floss) to a circuit board, and they don't leave much room for error. Oh, and the circuit board is discontinued, so if you damage the board due to self-repair, you can't have it replaced. So, thing twice before attempting this repair yourself. Hope this helps! - Justin DJPROAUDIO
