Why does my Mitsubishi XD221U projector have a power light blinking red and green?

When I turn on the projector, the indicator lights turn green. After a few seconds, you hear a click and the status light blinks red and the power light blinks red and green.

SOURCE: alternating power and lamp status lights

...replace the lamp. The lamp is most likely WAYYYYY past its prime so I suggest starting there. Sometimes even if you had just replaced the lamp the new lamp could've blown. When there is no signal running through the lamp circuit there is no signal to the display sensor, which means no image.

hope this helps!

Both power light and status light a solid red with no response to any buttons indicates the bulb timer has expired. You need to reset the timer by pressing and holding the left arrow key, the right arrow key and the power button all at the same time for a few seconds.

If there are no problems, the projector will fire up, but you must replace the bulb as it will fail soon and perhaps explode when it does.

Take care

SOURCE: Hi, My hc1500 Is having a problem. When I turn it

The clicking sound is the high voltage power supply trying to
ignite the gas in the lamp. The lamp is not firing and coming on.
Check the bulb/ lamp life. Possible the lamp has exceeded its
useful life and may need to be replaced.

It sounds like your lamp may need replacing. Before you go that route try all of these:
-Make sure the lamp cover on the bottom is fully attached. -If you unplug the power cord while the fan is rotating, the lamp may not turn on about 1 minute when you plug the power cord next time. After the status indicator stops blinking press the power button to turn it back on. May have to press it multiple times. -If your Power Light continues to blink red/green then you should contact your dealer.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Why does my Mitsubishi XD221U projector click and blink red/green on the power light when turned on?

All projectors run a self diagnosis when you press the power button. This does a kind of "pre flight check". If some component isn't working right then the projector won't fire up.

There's no mystery to these status lights. The answer to what they show is written in the manual. Sorry to be blunt, but if you had bothered to read your manual then you would know that red green flashing power light means that the lamp housing cover isn't closed properly. If it is the status light, then it means that the lamp has gone past its due time for replacement. I only know this because I read the bit in the manual just now about the Status Lights.

Replaced bulb yesterday worked fine. Today light will not turn on. projector turns on both lights green for 10 seconds, then power goes red and status blinks green for about 5 seconds, then status light...

green green is power on, normal
then it tries to light the lamp, but it can't so the protection circuit comes activated.
you get red and green blinking

Then it goes to standby, red and off.

so something has happened to the lamp, or lamp ballast power supply.
Take the lamp out and check if all is OK with the 2 terminals in the connector, and the leads to the lamp are intact.

Failing that, I would suspect the ballast lamp power unit

Mitsubishi HC 5500. While playuing the picture disappears. No picture only sound, also status and power lights start blinking red and green

Red and Green bliking with no picture means a service problem. But you might try cleaning the filters first and being sure that nothing is blocking air flow through the projector. Red status solid means replace the lamp, but that doesn't seem to be the indication.

Powers on for only a few seconds

if the power light blinks and the status light is off, check the lamp door. if the power light blinks and the status light is steady red or blinking green, you have a power supply/ballast issue. you may have to send it in for repair. try www.avsolutionsny.com.
