Hotpoint Washing Machine smells mouldy as has mould

I have had a Hotpoint Washing Machine for the last 3 years and have done most of my washing on cold cycles. I heard this week that this will cause a build up of mould on and under the seal at the door - which has now happened. The mould has started to smell.

I was sold some descaling powder to help with this problem and told to run the machine on a hot wash with nothing in it with the powder. I have done this twice now but the smell is still there. Does anyone have any other suggestions about how to get rid of the mould - could we buy another seal or will we need to get a new washing machine?

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the hose you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.

Next: You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Have you cleaned out your pump lately. Put the pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.
Pl give me a good rating for the free help, thanks.

Hotpoint WT 960G Smell from the machine when in use.

Usually the smell is caused by bacteria from the soiled water when washing is done on a cool wash. I have told customers before that to clear the smell you need to do several hot washes maybe using your white so as not to fade or run colours and in time the bacteria will clear and smell will also.
tip

Allways clean your filter on your washer

by cleaning your pump filter at leased once a month will make your washer perform better and last longer. it will stop problems accuring such as (door will not open ) (the machine will not spin on final spin ) (wet cloths) (un even loads) (dirty cloths) (smell & mould ) another good tip is dry off the rubber door seal after use and sprinkle a little talk powder on it this will stop it staining with mould.

Hotpoint wdd960

This is usually because there is water in pump which does not get drained over time. Leave the porthole door open from time to time to let the odour out. Make sure the laundry drain backflow has not dried up causing sewer smell to come through.
Run the washing machine empty using a packet of cleaning agent available from supermarket. see this site

Hi please can you help me, i have a hot point aqaurius washer, but the inside rubber round the door as gone black and mouldy

You can buy a product at Aldi/Lidl to clean the inside of washing machinest. It's not the machine manufacturer, it happens with all makes, especially if you have one of the better ones that lasts a long time. Can't remember the name of the product. It's a liquid you pour into the tray. But if you put some on a cloth and rub it into the rubber it will remove mould and discolouration.

I have a front loader washing machine. The rubber inside is going mouldy. I have tried to clean same without success - any suggestions!

Unfortunately, once the door seal goes mouldy it is impossible to get clean. Only option is to replace seal. Once seal is replaced, you need to wipe it dry after each wash and leave door ajar to prevent reoccurence of mould.

Machine smells mouldy- washing stinks!

Find out where your filter is; it is at the end of the thick hose coming down from the bottom of your tub; open up and clean out. Another possibility is there could be something stuck in your drum, feel if you could locate it. Next clean out the hoses in machine. After all this flush out with a hot wash, without clothes. People shd ask the service man where the filter is. If he knows that is.......................It gives you the biggest problem if you dont check.

SMELLY WASHING MACHINE

A mouldy smell is often a sign of trapped residual water stagnating somewhere in the machine often just inside the door seal at the low point or in the filter.

Providing there is nothing like a old sock trapped in the pump or filter then there is not much you can do other than to dry the door seal and powder dispenser after use.
