Can you change the colour of the text in a dell laptop 1545 to black

Remove the HDD and test, replace if necessary.

Are you sure the new screen was working before you fitted it? What was the fault with the original screen? Have you tried connecting an external monitor to see if the Laptop is otherwise working correctly?

Most likely the ribbon is not properly inserted in the corresponding slot on the motherboard. Please check that one.

check your function keys on the keyboard- there is a function key combo that raises the screen brightness OR sometimes a dial on the side of the laptop for brightness.

Insert the original Windows CD-ROM into the DVD-drive, and see if the computer will "boot" from that disk. If so, then it could be your 'C:' drive which is having the problem, and thus not "booting" your computer from it.

this definitely a security thing so don't hurt your head you need to send it by a service center to get it restored.

look in the control panel - display (I think) then click on the settings tab and select 256 colors.

If it is still under warranty call dell asap. Normally that is the LCD going bad or the video card, which is built in on the motherboard. Usually there is nothing a home user can do with this problem. LCD's are not too hard to change but the Motherboards can be a real bear.
