This is obviously a lack of power flow into the LCD. It could mean many things. All you need to do is; take it into a service centre for a check up and repair.
Don't attempt to fix it yourself.... if you value your camera, you need to accord it proper service ... and care.

SOURCE: Blank black screen for my canon powershot S1 IS digital camera

This is a common problem with S1 IS and it is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Note that you can playback captured images without any problem but in capture mode all you get is blank screen. Will have to go to Canon but note that Canon repairs these models free of charge when it is the CCD sensor that stops working.

SOURCE: Black screen problem with Canon PowerShot SD 750

Did you accidentally press the DISP button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Try pressing this button one more time to see if it turns the screen back on.

SOURCE: Black screen while shooting, but still taking pictures not black

Nonononooooo fotomohamed, he can review just taken pictures on the LCD. The screen is working.

Actually, it sounds like you just accidentally pressed the DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the screen on and off in picture taking mode to save batteries (you would then use optical viewfinder). Just press it once and it should turn back on.

SOURCE: How do I take black and white photos using a canon powershot?

Place the camera in P, Tv, Av, M, Movie, or Stitch-assist mode. Press the Func/Set button, and scroll down to the "My Colors" icon on the left side (second or third icon down, should show "My Colors Off" at the bottom of the LCD). Now use the left/right buttons to select "B/W", and press the Func/Set button again.

SOURCE: canon powershot sd1200is--suddenly won't take

Reset the camera. Go to menu button, the arrow right to settings and tools, scroll all the way down to RESET settings. Hit Func/Set button to bring up reset option, arrow right to OK and hit Func/Set again to say yes. Camera should have picture again.....at least this is what we did to fix a camera that did that to us. good luck

My Canon PowerShot SD880 IS has a black display screen. I cannot take pics now with the black screen, but the display DOES work for pics taken before the screen went black. Please help!

I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I found one posting elsewhere that said that this was a "common" problem. That person's camera was under warranty. Mine isn't, but it's less than 2 years old.

When i try to turn my Canon d10 on, i see a timer counting up instead of the image... it's a blue screen with white numbers

that's the clock feature, you must be holding down the "func set" button as you're turning on the camera.

First inmersion with Canon D10.Display went off, never recover. But it seems the camera functions, as it takes pictures. I d br grateful is someone helps me, its my second day of holidays, it is not fair!...

Apparently, you got a camera with an lcd screen that leaks. If it's still under warranty, get Canon to fix or replace it. I know that doesn't help you on your vacation.

LCD Screen remains black

Hi!
Have you tried pushing the DISP button while taking pictures? It's on the right from the LCD.

My screen does not show what the pic will be.

Take your camera into Canon as this is a known problem and they may repair it at no charge depending on your location. For example, in Australia you would refer to the following document... http://www.canon.com.au/support/customer/default.asp?DXI=KnowledgeBase/Customer/KBArticleForm&File=KB01634
