SOURCE: How can I unlock the blue function keys on my HP Pavilion dv2000?

Hi, I had the same problem and found the solution on another website:

To turn on and off Bilingual blue keys:

Hit Ctrl + Shift + shift
(yes, both shift keys at the same time in addition to ctrl)

and that turns on and off the Canadian bilingual blue keys on HP lap tops.

It's so annoying and happens to me frequently. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Weird French character key

This is a problem I haven’t stumbled on before and it bugged me so I have a suggestion.

-         Open the Control Panel (generally on the Start menu)
-         Open the Regional and Language folder
-         Click on Languages tab
-         Click on Details

See if the keyboard layout is set to ‘US.’

Now, what I don’t seem to find is how to choose something different without actually changing ‘Language’ itself.

Win ‘Help’ gave this result when searching on “changing keyboard language:”

“You can switch to a different keyboard layout or enter text in other languages without changing keyboards. However, the key labels may no longer match the characters you are entering. Use Regional and Language Options in Control Panel for changing languages and keyboard layouts.”
If this does or doesn't work, please post back as it might help others either do what you want to do or avoid paying any attention to me <grin>

SOURCE: question mark key always comes up as a french letter e -

I use 2 different keyboard types too.
Have you tried pressing [Ctrl]+[Shift] to change the keyboard type you are in. Even if you choose a default language in a program all other program will still use the other keyboard type, hope this helps.

SOURCE: how to make french accents marks on a laptop that

You need to tell windows it has a french keyboard:

In the control panel, go to regional and language options.
Go to the keyboards and languages tab, click change keyboards. On the window that pops up, click on the general tab. You probably have just the us keyboard installed. Click add, then choose either english-canada or french-france, then click to add the french keyboard. Click preview to see where the accent keys will be (so you can find them). Now, select the french keyboard and click 'move up' so the french keyboard is above the us english one.

Voila!

Hope this helps. Post a comment if you get stuck.

Just copy and paste in the search bar.
Use the above link. It's a list of French accents using the "alt" key and a combination of numbers. I use this all the time and it works great. Good luck.

My Acer Aspire 7720G doesn't have a 'scrn prnt' key. It was bought in France and has a French keyboard, but I can see no key that could correspond. How can I take a screenshot?

I'm not sure of which French keyboard you have, The Azerty is from Belgium and is used by the French, there is another that French Canadians use, it is a modified Qwerty. The Azerty board has the key "Syst" on it and this key is sometimes used as a screen print when used with a cimbination key strike. I am unsure if the combination uses the shift key, the Fn key or the Alt Gr key. If your keyboard has a menu key, this also may bring up a keystroke guide to use.
