I checked it out, and it turns out you can use the transducer of off your old 128 model.
Just unplug it from your current model, and plug it back into your EFE 480.
What I like about these newer fish finders is the fact that it also has gps built in to it, along with the maps for all of the USA, and the fact that it has a memory card slot, so that you can download new maps onto a memory card, pop it into the machine, and then it will update the maps !
Sure beats the old days where you had to send the unit in to a tech to have them install map updates.
Som yes, you can use the old one, and it should work with no problems.
