I've got an older telly (panasonic viera) and a new samsung dvd-player which came with a remote control. the remote has got four buttons which allow to control a tv, but so far it doesn't work. apparently a code is needed. anybody know the correct code?
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the site linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Pull up older posts.

Yes. I found the code. To operate Samsung HT-Z 310 with a remote control of Samsung TV, You have to turn off DvD, and then select Dvd on the remote(press the dvd button), press SET on YOU
remote control, input the CODE(020). For different Samsung dvd. you can try.codes from 000-to 080. The DVD button must blep three times. After that swich on Dvd. Enjoy....
